June 25, 1805 – The journey is becoming very hard. We take frequent breaks, but no one is complaining. Captain Lewis brought out a boat frame that we attempted to build using elk and buffalo hide. It failed. We made dugout canoes from logs.
Heroes and Heroines By Anna Wright As the 1920s began, the world of aviation was new to the United States. The invention of airplanes was fresh on the American scene, and both men and women found joy in the freedom of flight and the wonder of see their lives far below them. Two particular pilots, Amelia Earhart and Charles Lindbergh, left a lasting impression in aviation, as well as in the hearts of all Americans. Charles Lindbergh, a pilot from a small town in Minnesota, became the first person to make a nonstop solo flight across the Atlantic. Many had previously tried for this accomplishment that came along with a $25,000 reward, but on May 20, 1927, Lindbergh set off on a flight that turned him into a hero (not to mention $25,000 richer).
Mornings like this were always his least favorite. Standing by the stop sign at the end of Westbury Lane, waiting for the school bus. So cold he could see his breath, and feel his bones rattle with shivers. His big brothers hand-me-down jacket had too many holes in it to be a sufficient heat source, and his thing cloth gloves didn't have half the finger tips. The only thing saving him on this frigid winter morning was the hunters orange beanie he stole from the lost and found the week before.

His right was a stump fitted with an artificial limb made of fibreglass and steel. He'd lost the leg to cancer when he was 18.Terry knew how to cope with pain though. He'd run through it as he always had before; he'd simply keep going until the pain went away. Terry ran for 143 days, and 5,373 miles (Terry Fox & the Terry Fox Foundation. Web.)
The trail was about half a mile long and mosquitos were brutally eating at me, at this moment nothing seemed better than my kitchen table and a cup of coffee. As we were getting into the raft, we overheard our river guide talking about the rapids being rough that day. In that moment, I actually thought about the fact that I had no concept of how to keep my part of the raft stable. I didn’t know what to do, this whole time I had been thinking negatively and hadn’t paid any attention to any minor detail the instructors had to say about our treacherous journey we were about to face. Ready or not, we started down the unknown abyss filled with rigorous rapids and jagged rocks.
Alex Benn's 'Dont get me started' Strolling down that desolate road on a mid-november's morning. The golden leaves drift down to be engulfed by the psychedelic mists. Many would consider this setting a peaceful retreat, an escape from the reality of everyday life. Unfortunately, i simply cannot share this same enthusiasm, due to the fact that this picturesque walk holds a dark, sombre truth right as you so dare walk around that corner. Now the loud chugs and splutters of all types of pollutants are yours to endure, as you will now wait at the side of the road for at least half an hour to embrace possibly the most dreary spectacle known to man-kind... the approaching bus.
Busy like a mall on Christmas week, I continually placed people in their beds and wondered to myself, why aren't they spending their day at the beach on this gorgeous summer day? Clearly fifteen-twenty minutes in a tanning bed is much more convenient then a whole day outside. Fake-bake was the way to go in 2007 despite the skin cancer warning because it was believed that tanning indoor or outdoor had just the same percentage of receiving cancer. Until four years later when science won the government over the once popular business of indoor tanning. Soon the tanning business would decrease as the government put a federal tax and raised the age limit so high as an awareness to those that indoor tanning is indeed health risky.
