Families, relatives and friends have lost their home and the effect of this conflict has in turn permanently scared the minds of the innocence. According to the quote “Each day of war takes us farther from all we could hope to be or do. We gain nothing but heartbreak, and lose everything we cherish” by a Vietnamese survivor shows us how war creates nothing but death and devastation. Because of the disagreement between the borders of the country, a ruthless war changed Vietnam, who was once a peaceful country, into a land of battles and war zones. Therefore, conflict between the relationships of others can cause war and lead to problems.
People were afraid of the domino theory. They were afraid if South Vietnam fell to communism that the rest of Southeast Asia would follow. With time the American people grew tired of the war. When Charlie was hard to find and there was no end to the war, nobody wanted to be involved anymore. Americans were so tired of the war that the feelings were reflected in the election of Johnson vs Nixon.
He also makes it seem like everything is crumbling around Paul, and destroying all hope of survival and return to normal life for anyone who had experienced the front line. This is very different from pro-war poetry, which makes war seem fun. Something Remarque does either subconsciously or very well, is to make you feel sorry for the German and Central Powers’ soldiers, and to grow a subliminal hate for the allied soldiers, no matter who’s side you came in on. The Textbook also does this well, but in reverse. The Textbook gives off a sense of dislike towards the Central Powers, and made them seem primitive and destructive for no reason.
The frustration of the soldiers develops further as the conditions continue to be unbearable and now deadly. They begin to think about the rationale for this war. Many feel the war serves no purpose and that they are not getting anything out of being in Iraq,
Another reason was the government believed that Britain would help and give support to Australia when needed, if they supported Britain in the world war one. As a result, many British patriots encouraged conscription to ensure that Australia would be seen to have experienced the difficulties of War and, as a consequence, not relinquish it’s duty and in the process sever it’s ties with Britain. This fuelled the underlying controversies surrounding Australia's inability to assert her independence from Britain. Where as the people against the conscription believed that this is not the war to fight in. The war had no connections to Australia, and war was not good for the economy of a new country.
These two themes show the ugly side of war. Insanity among the soldiers and the way they view each other is very unusual. The soldiers can’t conform to one another or follow a common set of rules. The reader also sees that regardless of his mental state, Yossarian can’t be discharged. The theme of death, is one that is against war.
Our country is as divided as ever and there is a substantial lack of unity among the political parties and the citizens of the United States. At the federal level, the two political parties refuse to work together in the best interest of our country. In addition to seeking reelection, their main focus is furthering their political agenda as they refuse to compromise and negotiate with one another. In addition, citizens do not feel accurately represented by these elected federal officials. The citizens are given limited options when voting because only the dominant parties have a realistic chance of winning.
The next technique that I will be showing is repetition. Repetition is when something is repeated to give a much stronger affect, throughout this poem Wilfred Owen repeats that he hates the war due to the weather and the lies they were fed about war. I am going to talk about is “but nothing happens” in this poem this quote comes in four times in stanzas one, three, four and eight. The hatred in this quote is that they are waiting for the government to come and collect them, they are waiting for the bad weather to end but most of all
World War 1 World War 1 began between the years of 1914 and 1918. World War 1 disappointed the European Continent putting France, Russia, and the United Kingdom against Germany and the Austro-Hungarian Empire. During this disagreement and war it spread through and into the Colonies of European empires. The war caused major destruction and many people in the world was stated to revise their opinion that they may have against Europe and how they was going to make Europe the center of progress and enlightenment. World War 1 there was a lot of fighting and a lot of people going against each other for their own beliefs and what they may have wanted that they couldn’t get so they had to fight in order to get what they want.
His actions just showed how much he didn’t care and how he got in the way of the development of the state as a whole. The whole time he didn’t allow new people to be elected into these positions, it left the state in the mean time exposed to danger of invasion from the outside and other disturbances from
