The objective of this report is to detail Amazon.com’s strategic analysis, their strategic choices and then to provide recommendations as to how they could improve their strategic management of their organisation. Within this objective there is also the intention to examine the relationship that exists between the strategy, culture, systems and structure of Amazon.com and how this relationship provides a basis for innovation and change. The conclusions that were formed during this report include: 1. Amazon.com has given great attention to detail of all the force that may impact upon their strategy. 2. They face vast numbers of risks and uncertainties within the industry but have position the organisation to exploit as many of the opportunities available to them as they possibly can. 3. Amazon.com’s strategy has resulted in a flexible and dominate business design capable of out-competing any rivals who attempt to steal their market share. 4. It is the structure and network of Amazon.com that ensures their strategy is successful. 5. One major factor which proves to be vital to their success is the culture of the organisation. Based on these conclusions the report highlighted a number of issues and recommendations that Amazon.com should take into consideration in the future to enable their strategy to continue to be a worldwide success. These include: 1. Amazon.com need to maintain their focus on providing what is best for the customer and the lowest possible price to ensure continued market growth. 2. The long term success of the firm is partially dependant on the management and employees of the firm. They need to ensure that as the organisation grows the level of training provided is consistent with this growth rate. 3. Amazon.com need to monitor the culture of the firm as they continue to grow.
