The Relationship among a Mother and Child The mother plays an important role in her daughter’s life; the child will learn her values from her and look up to her as a mother. The mother affects the child’s life by raising the child in a comfortable environment and doing various activities with the child. In the book, Like Water for Chocolate by Laura Esquivel Tita, Roberto, and Esperanza do not have an instant connection with their mothers after they were born, resulting in them creating a stronger bond with their surrogate mothers. Tita’s relationship with her biological mother is unstable, making her believe that Nacha is her true mother because she is the only one who cares and understands her. She follows it because she is now programmed to believe this is the way of life and in turn she has become extremely tentative. She was raised to believe that you needed a husband to take care of you, although she personally believed she would do fine without a husband. She struggles with this because as I stated earlier, she did not want to be the average woman that relied on a man for her every need, but as time passed she became exactly that. Even though she was unhappy with her being, she wanted her daughters to follow in her footsteps and find a supportive husband versus going out and being themselves. She was satisfied with never wanting for anything financially, so much so she allowed this to distract her from the fact that she was emotionally unfulfilled in every aspect of her life.
Life Purpose There use to be a time when I was not sure of my life purpose. As years have passed, I have realized my purpose is being a role model. No matter where I go or what I do, people always look to me for advice and leadership. I have accepted God has placed me on this earth to help those who are traveling the same path I have traveled or similar. My job is to motivate and teach others not to make the mistakes I have made.
You can see this though many ways. One way is the way she refers to how things happen during her time as a captive. She sees everything that happens to her during this time and her life as God’s will. She believes that everything happens for a reason and looks to God. During her time when she was lost in the wilderness she states, “I cannot but admire at the wonderful power and goodness of God to me (112).” She wasn’t afraid to admit her faith; she confesses it throughout the entire narrative.
When she writes “Oh my dear girls—for to such only am I writing—listen not to the voice of love, unless sanctioned by paternal approbation.”(P. 55), she is trying to tell women to put themselves in a position in which they are not exploited, and listen to their brains and parents rather than their heart and emotions. The story of Charlotte Temple is somewhat extreme in the sense that she was a very naïve and sheltered young woman that didn’t really know what the world was like outside the walls of her home or the border school. She was weak and she was dependent on other people to make the decisions for her. Rowson is also warning the women about other people in their life. The parents have the best intentions for their children, but other people might not.
p67-68). She does not have enough self- confidence to meet anyone. Moreover, Bella has been taught for so long by her mother not to feel, and this creates a barrier forcing her to fail at
Due to the limited amount of resources and the restrictions laid upon women for practicing rhetoric, it is astonishing how many women were still able to make a significant impact on the field of rhetoric which I feel has paved the way for women’s liberations rights today. Christine de Pizan portrayed the art of rhetoric through language and letter writing as she challenged the boundaries of women’s input at the time. She sought to save the reputation of women, who at the time were being slandered and shine a new spotlight for women’s advancement. It is imperative that more time and space be dedicated to Christine De Pizan in Herricks textbook of rhetoric and many more to follow. Christine De Pizan is a brave woman who stood up to the verbal assaults on women in the 14th century.
Women, were so unhappy without having rights and it made them feel less loved and wanted. With this theory being applied to this issue of Women’s Rights, they come out on top of the situation. It took 130 years or so for women to evolve in society. “Utilitarianism is a normative ethical theory that places the locus of right and wrong solely on the outcomes (consequences) of choosing one action/policy over other actions/policies. As such, it moves beyond the scope of one's own interests and takes into account the interests of others.” (Cavalier, 2002) With the Women’s Rights Movement, there were a lot of pros and cons that can about, mostly positives.
Many debates have happened whether or not these women approach feminism for their time period. The answer to that is ambiguous and depends on how the reader takes in their writings. One can say that even though Wollstonecraft is so obviously pining for co-education, and in that way to be equal to men, she is not promoting equality for anything else. By not wanting to be equal in anything else, how can she be approaching feminism? Pizan so obviously from the start of her writing, introduces how women should behave (from the perspective of a princess), so that her actions shall be beneficial to her and her husband.
Children without adoptive parents can be raised by their grandparents or other family members. Although mother have more responsibility to raising a child, I personally think that both parents should assume equal responsibility in raising a child. In this era, in most family, fathers are working hard to fulfill his family needs. Many children spend more time in home with mother as compared to the time that they spend with their father. Almost every time child spend without father, just with their mother.
