They are both motivated by the wellbeing of their people to fight. Of course Beowulf also fights for the obvious reason, gold. Beowulf accepted the gold for killing the monster that plagued Hrothgar’s kingdom. After Beowulf kills the monster’s mother, he accepts even more golden treasure from the Danes and sails home with his men. While his motives for fighting always seem to be honorable and heroic, some people may see Beowulf as a mercenary.
Adults would say a heroic is a person who always willing to give a helping hand to people who are really needs it with his ability. He also a person who will stand up and fight for what is right every day. All of those, a heroic person has three qualities such as bravery, perseverance, and sacrifice. First of all, bravery is one of the most important qualities that a hero should have when he tries to save people live because a heroic without the bravery in himself, he achieve with nothing at the end and evil will able to win. He has to be confidently and bravery to face with dangers to help and save people successfully.
Hamlet would have been an exceptional king because of his character and his willingness to sacrifice for his country. His actions throughout the book can be described as brash and extreme but his decisions are not uninformed. The challenges he faces are unimaginable and difficult but he perseveres and acts in a way that he believes will serve his country best. These are the actions of a mature and able leader who is fit to run a country. Hamlet is aware of plots against him and he believes this will be bad for Denmark.
Being loyal to them and/or yourself shows honor. In our world today Beowulf, from the poem Beowulf, would be a hero because he shows courage and never gives up. Fearless courage, brick wall strength, and the spirit to never give up are all of the characteristics to being a hero. Just as in today’s world, Beowulf had shown heroism by being there and protecting the people he cared about. Even in the times when a task seemed to be impossible to accomplish being courageous is a trait to have.
Someone that is brave and honest, yes those might be some qualities but then again can’t anyone be brave or honest? Some qualities I consider to be heroic are self-sacrifice, caring attitude and having leadership skills. Self-sacrifice is a huge heroic quality because it takes a lot for someone to risk their own life for someone else’s. Anyone can help someone as long as the don’t get hurt in the process but knowing that you are going to get hurt and still helping that person takes a great deal of courage. Like in Beowulf, he risks his life to go fight against Grendel and bring peace back to Hrothgar and his kingdom.
Though the journey is tough, it is not tougher than Odysseus. Odysseus has the defining character traits of a Homeric leader: strength, courage, loyalty, nobility, a thirst for glory, and confidence in his authority. His most distinguishing trait, however, is his sharp intellect. Odysseus’s quick thinking helps him out of the tough situations that are put before him. Unfortunately, because of the length of time that Odysseus is away from home, the situations that he must face causes his loyalty to weaken, as well as the strength of his various motivations.
At the end of the story, Instead of finding the truth, William decides to accept the person his father is. Besides the attractive story of the book, Edward’s heroism characteristics are interesting. His courage and intelligence are essential characteristics that people in a society should follow. Courage is a quality that a lot of people might have, such as courage to speak in front of the class, courage to play an extreme sport, etc. However, courage that qualifies heroism is greater than that.
You rarely win, but sometimes you do.” (Lee, 149). Many characters display various forms of courage but clearly Atticus Finch is the most courageous, showing that refusing to give up the fight in the face of adversity is the only way to display true character and inspire others. Atticus displays many forms of courage throughout the novel. The story
p.1 The Odyssey Essay In the classic epic poem, The Odyssey, Homer explores the interstice characteristics of a true hero through the main character Odysseus. A true hero is represented through loyalty, braveness, and selflessness. In order to be a great leader, one must be able to earn the trust of others through dependability. A true hero is loyal to their purpose and their people. Additionally, a hero must be able to make decisions benefitting the majority and not just themselves.
Bravery to me is when someone shows courage when faced with obstacles, chooses to do the right thing, or overcomes a fear in order to do what is right. Overcoming obstacles and showing courage while doing it means that when a dangerous situation or a trial is placed in front of you, you do not quit or just sit and wait for someone to do something for you. You will step in there no matter how hard the task and will not give up. You will persevere until the end of that obstacle sometimes knowing that you are only to get new ones in its place. Over coming obstacles and showing courage is part of bravery because no one thinks of someone as brave, if when things get hard they turn away and quit only to let someone else do it for them.
