Atticus’ courage shows to be more moral in the book because he is doing this for everyone and not just himself. Mrs. Dubose’s courage is seen to be more emotional because she is doing this for herself. Their courage’s are similar in ways but are different because Atticus is for everyone and Mrs. Dubose is for herself. Atticus and Mrs. Dubose have different types of courage, but they know that they will never win their battle. To be able to start and finish a challenge that outcomes are bad for you take courage.
So not only do these types of people know the dangers that their getting into, but it is the danger itself that encourages them to persist. This form of courage is bravery against the life threatening. There are many who would perform a courageous act, if the act itself was not threatening. For example, public speaking is commonly known as most peoples worst fear, it takes courage for these people to go on stage and speak to a room full of people, and though courageous, the act was not life threatening. However, for those who have “the right stuff” they will perform their duties knowing full well that they might die doing
Some perceive it as acting bravely in the face of danger, others as acting as a minority in your ideas and beliefs. In my eyes, the true definition of courage is to try even when you know the odds are greatly against you, to stand against the potential ridicule and hatred that you will likely face. In today’s world, courage is not a sought after attribute. People are more concerned with how to get ahead and what others think of them. Atticus and Mrs. Dubose displayed perfect examples of great courage in their choices to not give up, to keep trying, even when defeat was imminent, and people today should aspire to be more like these two
When Jim goes along with it he thinks that it isn’t such a bad thing to run as long as someone else is doing the same thing. He told himself that if someone were to throw a thing, such as rock, at an animal to scare it and it runs away. Then why couldn’t he run when his life was put on the line. And this is where Henry’s character change takes place. In the real world, humans are faced with challenges they are not always up to fight for.
People need to take risk to achieve things on their own merit, but there are people who should support them but will discourage them from taking risks because of perceived perceptions of the persons limitations. Risk taking can have benefits for the individual as it will enable them to do things most people take for granted. 1.3) Sometimes we all have to take risks to get what we really want. It’s a part of living a full life. Supporting individuals to take risks to do what they have chosen to do is part of a person centred way of working.
There are ways to fight this huge problem of indifference and it can be stopped. Indifference is a very dangerous problem that leads to very dangerous situations. Indifference is when people know of horrible events happening, but choose to stay silent or not take action. If something terrible is happening and people do not try to stop it, it will continue to happen. Until people choose to stop indifference and start caring about others in the world, theses events will not stop.
If we cannot show other people that we are honest in our words and actions then who will be willing to follow us? Being a leader you must think about those who are looking up to you and following you not just about yourself. A leader needs to realize that if they are not an honest leader then they could get themselves and the people following them into trouble. Leaders must be moral and virtuous people. They should never take bribes or act corruptly.
Some kids with special needs do not feel pain so to spank them would be pointless. When the child does not respond to the pain from the spanking the adult may get frustrated and the spanking may turn into anger and it can turn bad fast. Some children do things but can’t help it. No matter how many times you spank them you can’t stop them from doing it as they do not know they are doing because it is part of the
This is how Emerson sees consistency; he is very much against it and looks down upon those who do not change their minds. Honesty has a lot to do with the consistency part of Emerson’s piece. Many people may be afraid to be inconsistent because they fear others will fear they are being dishonest. They have an opinion on something one day, and then the next it is changed. Some can see this as being dishonest and many people in society fear this.
2. Self-regulation – as example above, I was afraid and I could not control my emotions so they hindered my abilities to contribute to my team, my work. Because I am now confident in myself, I believe in my skills and I can control my fears of ‘failing’. I learn that it is okay to make mistake. What I need to do is to learn from my mistakes and I strive not to make the same mistake
