Teens and their sex habits: What are the risks and who is to blame? Teens today are very open and very exposed to sexual activity. They see it everyday from television to billboards. It’s because sex sells. When something is selling things won’t change. Set aside from being so exposed to such things teens aren’t informed of the risks they are taking. All they see is someone so beautiful and so desirable and nothing else is shown. Young society either wants that or they want to be that. One health education isn’t enough to show these naïve teens what is more than a remote possibility. More education is what our young population needs. What are the consequences? Pregnancy, diseases, juvenile behavior, and lack of relationships. And who is to blame? Television, parents, advertisement companies, and teens themselves. Pregnant teens are set up for a tough life. Very rarely are teens lucky enough to have a good life after they have been pregnant. Five minutes of pleasure for a lifetime of struggle. On www.pregnantteenhelp.org statistics show that about forty out of one-thousand teens are getting pregnant and the numbers are continuing to grow. On www.menstrualpoetry.come there was an article dated June 27,2008 giving a review about an article in Time Magazine about seventeen girls in Gloucester, Massachusetts who had made a pact to get pregnant all at the same time in order to raise their children together. These girls weren’t going to wait either. The date of this “pact” was interfering with the first aired dates of Teen Mom, Knocked Up, Secret Life of the American Teenager, and others as well. Television may not be the only contributing factor to influences such as this pregnancy pact but it is one that has it’s bigger effects.
