Leaders seem to instill a sense of significance in the workforce by giving employees the power of their vision and values (Kilbort, 2004). The leader is important in forging links—creating connections—among an organization’s members to promote high levels of performance and quality outcomes (Sullivan, Decker, 2009). Management is going by protocols, procedures, and systems. A manager, in contrast, is an individual employed by an organization who is responsible and accountable for efficiently accomplishing the goals of the organization (2009). Working as a leader in the healthcare profession requires a large amount of responsibility, which takes much work, and is not effortless.

As CEO of Middle field hospital I believe specific strategies need to be developed in order to improve the financial performance of the hospital. This facility is attracting young families to seek services at this location. At Middlefield we have been relying on our reputation too much.

According to the As level for Edexcel, Health and social care book, by Neil Moonie, there are two key elements to creating a positive care environment. Within the social care profession one of the key attributes needed is to maintain a high level of inter-professionalism. Inter-professional practice within the healthcare system is where two or more professionals work in partnership to deliver the most efficient and effective service of care (Shardlow & Doel 1995). The World Health Organisation is the regulatory body within the health care system and states that when health professionals work together they provide a better standard of care. As defined by the WHO, ‘Working in a team enables the professions to solve complex health problems that cannot be adequately dealt with by one profession alone’. The inter-professional practice is always centred around the patient and team.
My reflection will include key themes such as effective team working and stereotyping followed by a summary of the main topics covered within the essay. Interprofessional collaboration is described by Pollard et al. (2005) and Way et al. (2002) as the process of communication and decision making that enables members of different professions and/or agencies to share knowledge and skills in order to provide integrated health and/or social care for the benefit of patients and the wider community. This is reinforced by the World Health Organisation (WHO, 2010) and
