Is the system being implemented to enhance or replace the system being used currently? Will the current system support the changes being made? These are all questions that the organization must answer prior to the selection process to ensure that the system being purchased will be the most specific to the needs of the organization. Lastly, the organization needs to consider the users of the system. The system should be that which can be easily learned by the staff and physicians, because these are going to be the people that will be using the system on a daily basis.
Roles and Functions Krystal Archer HCS/325 May 20th, 2013 Cynthia Bubb The roles and functions of a health care manager can, if handled correctly, create an optimal work environment and build a strong and successful team. Health care managers are major strategic players in the overall success of an organization, and it is essential that any current or aspiring health care manager thoroughly understand their roles and functions. There are four major functions of a manager in a health care setting. Managers must plan, organize, lead and control. AHIMA is also helping the health care sector by helping providers make better decisions with the use of analytics, informatics and decision support technology. Health care organizations will depend on HIM professionals as leaders across all healthcare sectors, with expertise in predictive modeling of clinical information, trend analysis, and revenue cycle management. (www.ahimafoundation.org, 2014). The stakeholder perspective for AHIMA is based on improving clinical documentation, improving patient encounters, and coding accuracy. AHIMA believes that hospitals and providers must improve clinical documentation in preparation for the expanded scope of clinical data beyond a single patient encounter to a comprehensive data set comprising the entire continuum of care (www.ahimafoundation.org, 2014).

The CQC will also focus on the essential standards of quality and safety, 16 important aspects of care focusing on more positive outcomes for service users receiving care. These can include involvement of someone in the decisions about treatment, all the way to infection and disease control. One of the most basic ways to ensure that someone knows what their job entails, and what standards should be met is simply to give them an up to date job specification. This will tell them what they will need to do to maintain those standards and what can be expected from them on a day to day.
This will require an approach of creating a culture at York Healthcare into an EBP environment that must be supported by hospital administration, management, educators and clinical leaders. In addition, a conceptual framework that will translate research into practice is required. An Evidence-based model proposed by Rosswurm and Larrabee (1999) which is derived from theoretical and research literature is the framework to guide nurses, through a systematic process, to obtain, interpret, and integrate the best available evidence into clinical practice. The proposed change is compatible with the current organization’s culture as it aligns with the facility’s vision and mission to provide the best possible care and to make every experience great. Conclusion Evidence-based practice (EBP) is an approach that enables clinicians to provide highest quality of care in meeting the multifaceted needs of their patients and families (Melnyk & Fineout-Overholt, 2005).
