Animal Cruelty Animal Cruelty is a continuing problem that grows each and every day in America. Animal cruelty is considered any inhumane or violent act towards any animal, but Cruelty does not just pertain to physical abuse. Neglect is also a form of abuse. To improve the treatment of animals it is necessary that animal cruelty becomes a felony offense. At least 5 billion US tax dollars are poured into animal experiments every year. Rabbits are routinely blinded by having various products forced into their eyes. Yea, that’s right, good ol Bennington VT, has animal cruelty issues. Benningtons main issue is dog neglect, and I’ve had to wake up for the past 3 years and witness it everyday. Diagonal from my yard, about 100 ft away, lives a small family; they own an Akita, a Japanese large powerful breed of dog that goes by the name of Friday. From about 7am to 8pm every day she sits, hangs around, and sleeps in her own yard, in hot weather, cold weather, and even snow and thunder storms. I’ve tried to report this family’s neglect about 5 times, but because they leave a bowl and a doghouse out for her, Friday can’t be taken away from them. Does it matter that the bowl is always empty? That her dog houses it too small for her? No. That’s why the laws need to be changed. I hope to one day put my own effort into stopping animal cruelty. In less than 5 five years I hope to be helping neglected and abused dogs at the APSCA in New York
