Once it was obvious the Germans were not going to attack, you are able to stand down. You can now go eat breakfast, which was usually half a dozen biscuits and a can of Tickler's Plum and Apple Jam and a fresh cup of coffee. During this time, then men gossip and read old newspapers. After breakfast, your platoon commander inspects your platoon and then orders you to either do work detail, do sentry duty, or to bring wire from the rear trenches. In the late afternoon, you return to your dugout and eat more biscuits, cans of bully beef, Machonochie's stew, and drink tea or water.

Jason Mercier Human Science 220 March 5, 2013 Mary Jean Stevenson The food that I consumed that provided protein for me was pizza with 25 grams, the two cheese burgers I ate provided 22 grams of protein. The bagel with egg sausage and cheese gave me 22.6 grams of protein, over all my protein totaled up to 95 grams of protein which was below the recommended DRI requirement. My carbohydrates were provided by the slice of pizza, cheeseburgers and fries along with white breads and apple sauce for a total of 179 grams. Lipids my multivitamin provided 86 percent of vitamin A, D and E. Most of my trans fatty acids came from the cheese burgers and sausage bagel. Looking at my total intake compared to the DRI requirements I will need to increase with more carbohydrates which I get from eating more bread, beans, milk, potatoes and a large number of foods.
