Youth in Politics Before starting I would like to ask a question. Is there anybody here who would like to be a politician? (No Answer) Well, I knew this would be my answer, but I hope my speech changes you view of politics. Life would be dull if there were no difficulties. This is a very famous saying which signifies the very aspect of life. Today’s youth is very ambitious and enthusiastic. It wants to do something for the benefit of its own being, the community as well as the nation. We, the youth, dream of becoming a doctor, an engineer, a chartered accountant or very rarely a soldier, but never does anybody like to step in the world of politics. Is today’s youth ready to join politics or rather having a tag of being a politician? Well, there are only a handful, only one in hundred who would like to become the President or the Prime Minister and are ready to strive for it. The likes of Rahul Gandhi have helped the youth overcome the dread of being in the world of politics. Not only that the Government as well as some schools are also organizing competitions like Youth Parliament so that the youth knows about the Parliamentary procedures. The youth believes in politics nowadays though there are some who don’t. We, the youth wan to do something for the nation but their growth is hampered by the growing corruption in politics. The purpose of life is a life of purpose. The youth wants to do something in life. They have aspirations, beliefs, faith to make their nation a superpower. Superpower doesn’t only mean the power in arms, war weapons, missiles, etc. Its actual meaning which the youth thinks should be is the removal; I repeat the removal, not reduction but the removal of poverty, unemployment, and superstitions from the nation. We should remember Subahmanya Bharathi’s poem in that aspect: ““Where there is a will, there is away.” But, Oh
