Our family is all dressed up, and I can smell the evening’s food rooms away and hear the ending sounds of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade on the TV downstairs. We seem like a classic, cookie-cutter family. And then the holiday really begins. My grandma is usually the first to arrive, complete with her leopard-print duffle bag she carried everywhere with her. After her I hear the front door open again and know that, from this point on, the house won’t have another moment of silence.
As she was going home, she met up with her friends Jessia, and Andy. They were her best friends since her freshman year. “Anyone doing anything special tonight?” Jessia asked. “I think a party is great on a Friday night.” “You know my usual answer,” Andy replied, eating away at a bar of chocolate. He had a few more in his backpack.
Everything is starting to go back to the way that there supposed to be. Melinda is more happier, and her and heather have become very close like as though they were best friends. There is other images of trees that Melinda has had. Like when Melinda and her family had set up the Christmas tree around Christmas time. When she was younger, her and her family would sit around the Christmas tree and drink hot chocolate.
I got to dress up, get my face painted, and hang out with kids for four hours. During the hours that I was doing my community service I got to paint characters, designs, and special things on kid’s faces, hands, or arms that went along with their costumes for Halloween. As the kids went around from trunk to trunk, they would stop at my trunk and get a face painting. Most of them wanted the character they were dressed up as on their face, or a princess design for the
I have Oak Hollow Mall memorized, and have been to almost every restaurant around the High Point-Greensboro-Winston area. It's not that teenagers are becoming lazy, we're getting tired of going to the movies and bowling every weekend like we've been doing since 2nd grade. I just wish there was somewhere that I could meet other teenagers without having to worry about my friends getting drunk or pregnant but also not feel like I'm in elementary school again. People that don't support a facility either don't know what's really going on in high schools or just don't care and don't want to "waste
If a ball is smashed towards the wall, we are on our feet in seconds, inspiring it to grow wings and leave the ballpark. All in all, after nine hard fought innings, we are all tired and hoarse as we stumble into a cab and head to the train station. On the train ride home, as we recount, and argue over the “play of the game” we vow to get back to another game before everyone has to leave town again. In the wake of the afternoon, as the calm of the storm takes over, we all agree that it was once again a wonderful day for all of us. It never matters whether the Cubbies win or lose, although it is nice when they win, it is about the experience of attending the game, in the greatest city in the World, with the best friends of your life.
We didn't stay on the beach long, we all wanted to get a good nights sleep. My step-sisters Katy and Bethany have never been to Cedar Point before and the last time i was there was 8yrs ago. None of us could fall asleep, we were all to excited to go enjoy the huge amusment park. When our parents woke us up the next morning we all rushed around, even tho we had plenty of time before we got into the park an hour early. After we were all ready we ate breakfast at a very crowded resturant.
Every year late in November, Americans celebrate Thanksgiving; a holiday which one is thankful for the house they live in, clothes on their back, food on their plate and family who love them dearly. However, this famous holiday which only happens once a year started over four-thousand years ago with the Indians and Pilgrims. Most of us remember learning about Thanksgiving in grade school; the Pilgrims and Indians sitting down together enjoying a big feast and giving thanks for everything they had. However, in August 1620 before America was a colony, the Pilgrims set sail to find land for the New World landing in Plymouth, near Cape Cod. The Pilgrims had made it to the Massachusetts Bay!
They would always send me to church by myself every day while the other people that lived in the house would go to a soccer game or eat in a restaurant. Every time I wanted to spend time with my cousins to go out to the movies or the carnival they would get mad and make excuses so I wouldn’t go. On top of that they would always make me cook breakfast for like ten people every day, I do everything back home in Philadelphia but sending me to Puerto Rico for “vacation” was the worst thing that could’ve ever happen to me but as I recall vacation means time to relax and have fun but in the other hand they made me feel like a slave. One time they did a birthday party for my eight year old sister, they invited a lot of people and it turned out to be one of the biggest parties on the block. I know a party sounds like fun thing to do but it’s not fun when the party ends at four thirty in the morning and you have to pick up the trash and clean the whole house by yourself which in that case I was the only one who did all the cleaning.
The most important times with my family are the holidays and special occasions spent together as a group. Aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, and great-grandparents all gather together at one of our homes in celebration of Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas, the new year, birthdays, and graduations. We always have an abundance of dishes steaming with decadent food, such as my grandmom’s homemade macaroni and cheese. My mom usually fixes her sweet party punch: a mixture of Hawaiian punch, sprite, and sherbet. We gather around, eating, opening gifts, talking and laughing.
