Why Writing is Important Writing is important because it give a person the opportunity to express themselves. It makes a person’s thinking visible. A good example of this is through music. Music is a universal language and is all around the world today. For lots of people, it’s the lyrics of a song that make it important to them. The best lyrics are the ones where the writer is speaking from their heart. Writing can put a spark in our minds; it can expand our knowledge and bring people upon new imaginative realities that had been previously unimaginable until put on paper. There are lots of songs that do this. Some of those songs have been made very popular. One example of a song that does this for a lot of people is called “Imagine” by John Lennon. John states that he imagines a world where there is no religion, no countries, nothing to kill or die for, no heaven and no hell. He believes this scenario would provide the world with peace. His lyrics make a lot of people really think and imagine what living in a world of piece would be like. John expands our way of thinking with his writing. A good writer can make their reader feel their emotions, see their visions, think their thoughts, physically feel as if they are where the writer is describing. The ability of a writer to be able to express these thoughts, emotions, and personal details in a way that connects with their readers so deeply is somewhat magical. Written words are not just words. They are ways for people to connect and communicate with each other. “Amazed” by Lonestar is a great example of how a piece of writing can communicate so much emotion.
