Senators and Generals: Important to the Roman Republic and leaders of the fall. The senators and generals were an important part of the Roman Republic government structure, but unfortunately they were also just as important in the destruction of the Roman Republic. The Roman Republic was a large and strong government structure. A governmental structure that dictated laws, regulations and policies to the people of Rome. The government expanded greatly along with acquisition and control of the area of land that was acquired through battles.
And after waging a war, the consuls still have to refer any treaties back to the people for ratification. The Senate cannot infringe on the rights of the people because the tribunes, the magistrates elected to protect the people, have the right of veto over any Senatorial decision. The Senate is not completely dominated, however,
These technological innovations had a major impact on the way people fought the Civil War. Even more important were the technologies that did not directly play roles in the battle, however played major impacts on the war itself, like the railroad and the telegraph. Innovations like these did not just change the way people fought wars, they also changed the way people lived. As the years progressed, so did the advancements. Before the Civil War, soldiers would use muskets.
Propaganda was seen by many as another form of warfare, just as important to the end result as the actual fighting. It was used to encourage unity within a nation and justify countries’ involvement in the war. Propaganda was rife in many forms in both the allied and central countries throughout World War 1 The effect that propaganda had was immediate and it also had a lasting effect which went beyond the war period. Each of the nations which participated in World War One from 1914-18 used propaganda posters not only as a means of justifying involvement to their own populace, but also as a means of procuring men, money and resources to sustain the military campaign. The main purpose of propaganda in Australia was used to conscript soldiers to fight in the First World War At first Australia agreed to send 20,000 men and they used propaganda to put forward service as glamorous, prestigious and heroic.
Americans did not want to enter the war because they thought they had enough to deal with on their own such as the Great Depression. Americans supported isolationism or staying out of the way of warring nations even though America’s Allies were at war. In World War One America had fought to make the world safe for
Colonists had some advantages. One was the geography of the diverse continent. Since colonists were fighting on their own soil, they were familiar with its thick woods and inadequate roads. Other advantages were their strong leader, George Washington, and their fierce determination to fight for their ideals of liberty The British worked to create alliances within its colonies. A number of Native American groups sided with the British, while others saw potential advantages in supporting the colonists’ cause.
The territorial disputes, the domain of a civilization over another, fights on inheritance rights or trade routes are trying to solve through diplomacy and have failed, is when war has been declared. The story is written by blow of wars. In fact, history has always been written by victorious one. Therefore, our current civilization is largely a result of these wars. We would not be what we are without them.
However the civil war in Libya in 2011 was not a threat to America and protestor in Libya had made it clear that they did not want, or need help from westerners. However America still sent ships off the coast of Libya and bombed the military bases. As I have shown America only follows Monroe’s beliefs when most convenient for themselves and when they want to. However they do expect Europe and the Middle East to stay out of American conflicts and
Much literature has been written about the events that occurred, the battles that were fought and the innovation and weapons that were used, but it is the people that were most important and pivotal in the war. The people far out weighed the battles, the weapons or machinery and it was the people and there stories that have and will remain victorious throughout modern American memory. Some may say that WWII was not the good war because America entered the war last and did not witness the majority of destruction, ethnic cleansing and killing caused by the Nazi regime. Some say believe that it’s because the war was fought elsewhere so damages and casualties weren’t seen on home land unlike in Europe. Whilst some say that WWII was not the good war because America simply took the easy route towards the end of the war with the introduction of nuclear weapons on
Leaders and soldiers both believed in these concepts and were key reasons for going to war on both sides, each side believing they were doing the right thing. The Civil War has been described as a conflict over alternate versions and visions of the American nation. The North believed it was crucial that “the nation” stay together and if the South were allowed to succeed, that nation would be ruined and all that had been sacrificed/fought for to create this independent free nation would be lost. Many justified going to war as it was the only method of keeping the union together, one soldier telling his wife that “it is better to have war for one year than anarchy and revolution for fifty”, there was a belief that if the South were allowed to secede, it would set a precedent to allow other states to leave the nation in the future. Lincoln (who strongly believed in the idea of the nation and the Union) being re-elected in 1864 shows how the soldiers supported Lincolns beliefs and believed the war and its sacrifices meaningful and necessary.
