A team of researchers from the University of Minnesota Cancer Centre revealed in a study published in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute (1999) that infants that breastfed for at least one month had a 21% lower risk of developing leukemia and those who breastfed for at least 6 months or longer have up to a 30 percent lower risk of developing leukemia than bottle fed babies (UMCC, 1999).
