I don’t even speak English. What is going to happen? I finally took off on the plane, and after Paris I reached New York the flight took exactly 18 hours in total. In New York, I couldn’t find my terminal in this big airport. I was trying to ask but no one seemed to be helpful.
I’m not going to lie I was nervous; I had no idea what was in-store for me. Jump school consists of three weeks: Ground week, Tower week and Jump week. On 18 October 2008 a Friday night I Left Fort Leanordwood Missouri a young 18 year old Soldier headed to FT. Benning GA for JUMP SCHOOL. Just completing basic training and advanced individual training I was thin, weighed about 160 at 5’11’’ that’s not much, not an ounce of fat on my body (from being starved for 22 weeks), but I was ripped and I knew I could handle the task in front of me. That night we arrived at Benning after 14 long, grueling hours on a greyhound bus.
I was 20 years old when I was called to go and serve my country, so when I was told where I was going I was a little scared at first, but eventually that went away since we started training and getting ready for combat. Once the training was over, we got our flight date for which we would be going to Kuwait first. We landed in Kuwait on June 16th of 2003. Once I was there I had to get use to the weather because by ten in the morning it would be 130 degrees or higher. It took me about two weeks to get used to being in such a hot and dry place.
They had more than 13,000 and 5,800 flight hours respectively and both had more than 2,200 hours in the Boeing 757. The captain was familiar with the route but it was the first officer’s first flight into Cali. Aircraft was scheduled to depart at 1640, but the flight was first delayed by 30 minutes due to a winter storm in the northeast US, to wait for connecting passengers to get on board. However, some passengers missed the connection and did not get on board. Flight 965 left the gate in Miami at 17:14, taxied to runway 27R and waited due to seasonal congestion which caused the flight to take off at 18:35 which was two hours late.
Of course I was at the airport, my client flight comes in at 6:00pm. I arrived around 5:30pm. My office closes at 5:00 so at that point I could not reach out to Tiffany. During all of this time I had to call the closing Attorney so he would not make a blank trip. I’m not keeping track of time due to the rush of rescheduling everything.
The two end up moving in together, and she becomes very influential by providing confidence for Hughes during his journey to succeed in aviation. During this time, Hughes took an interest in passenger aviation as well, purchasing Transcontinental & Western Air (TWA), the predecessor to his re-named company Trans World Airlines. Hughes also took his aviation goals to another level and broke aviation records such as flying around the world in the new record time of four days, and built the fastest plane on earth at the time. Eventually Hughes and Hepburn break up, and he learned that the Pan Am airline company wanted to put his TWA out of business. Hughes then proceeded to get a contract from the Air Force to build a reconnaissance plane and a troop transport aircraft.
However, it was a tough decision because I didn’t have any family members who were living in the United States. I only had friends. I made the hardest decision I would ever have to make. Before I decided to buy a plane ticket, I made contact with my friends. I called one of my friends who was living in Sacramento, California and I gave him the details of what had happened to me.
I spent 2 days just sleeping on the stairs of the ship that made my body extremely sore and my eyes were extremely tired and then came a thought in my mind if I will get out of this ship safely and if was ever going to make to America. Then finally I got to the Ellis Island with such an excitement however I was shocked to the see the big lines to make sure all the passengers were disease free and everyone had legitimate paperwork to enter in this country. Finally after proving my identity and showing the proper paperwork, I was able to board on another ship that was taking me to New York my final destination. Then again the same story in the ship, had to suffer because of no
Immigration My Grandma came to America by airplane when she was about 14 years old. Her mother said it was a new chance for them. She said it was a six hour flight from Puerto Rico to New York. It was a small airplane with propellers and had about 20 seats. She got on by herself.
However, that will not going to stop me from being part of society. Back home, everything is hard to be living in so my mom took all three of us and move to America hope for a better life. I’m still remember my first day in 1998 to United States of America, after we get off the airplane and went out to the package pick up station; I saw a lot of people walk by, whose were so tall and big compare to us. Blonde hairs, blue eyes, some people even have brown hairs and hazel eyes. They are dress so different and talk different language too.
