nal Tyler Kerth Journal Entry 1 June 07, 2012 Today was one of the few days that I have had off from work. Typically on these day I like to relax just a little bit, but wasn’t the case today. I decided to go out to Hillsdale Lake on one of my friend’s boats and wake and tube. The most fun part of the boat extravaganza was when I was tubing. We would play a game where we dragged two tubes behind the boat and we would try to see how many times we could successfully transfer from one to another.

Swimming in the water, sunbathing, eating juicy burgers straight from the grill, tubing down the river, scuba diving to find lost treasure, and enjoying the beautiful scenery the river offers. I didn’t want to leave that day. I wish I could go down every day to repeat things. But I knew I would be back
Here at Tri Dam we focus not only on doing the best job we can, but also in being part of a team. We are a small company and work closely with each other every day. This type of environment depends greatly on our attitudes and ability to work as a team. As a bonus, we are able to use the water first for hydroelectric power generation.
Nutritional Medicine “To eat is a necessity, but to eat intelligently is an art.” (La Rochefoucauld, http://www.naturalhealers.com/qa/nutrition-history.html) Nutritional medicine is the study of food as medicine. It encompasses and collaborates with findings and discoveries in modern science and human biology to understand the impact good food and nutrition can have on the body in both a preventative and recuperative sense. Again, Hippocrates was the original founder of the power of food and it’s medicinal qualities for health and wellness. A British Navy physician, Dr. James Lind experimented with different food groups and their effect on disease manifestation. Many developments over the last 200 years have led to underline the fact that certain foods (and food chemistry) were linked to good health.

Observation ( paper-1) “Columbia YMCA swimming pool observation” Since I spend a fair amount of time volunteering and working-out at the local Columbia YMCA, I decided to carefully observe what cultural relativity takes place around me. When I arrive, my observation’s will be taking place by the pool area (where I normally do warm-up’s). The pool is a junior Olympic size pool, one of two offered in the Columbia area. In this observation I am looking to find who uses the pool and what their primary uses for it are. This will help me understand what cultural activities the pool area has to offer.

I most relate to the biopsychosocial model. I believe that a person’s faith and the power of prayer can affect their health, physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing. I also belief that a person has a choice in their health and nature can play a huge impact on a person’s overall wellbeing. Over my years of nursing, I have incorporated different holistic practices into my treatment plans including acupuncture, yoga, massage, meditation, and prayer. I talk to my patients and their families about balanced diets, physical activities, fresh air, and having close personal relationships are in regards to health and balance.
