Beginning in 2100-2050 BCE with the Nanna Ziggurat the flat head pyramid was seen in usage in Iraq. Keeping similar architecture style with the Khafre’s Pyramids built in 2520-2494 BCE located in Egypt present the structure of a three dimensional triangle. Both structures found in the Middle East can be compared similarly in the sense of shape, base, and structure while being built in different time periods with different resources and with distinct specific purposes. The Nanna Ziggurat is one of the most remarkable surviving archaeological remains. Ziggurats built above flat plains publically made known the wealth, and stability of city ruler’s and glorified its gods (Cothern and Stokstad 2011, 28).
The significance of roman religion played a major role on the people of Pompeii and Herculaneum. It was established in the 6th century and was influenced by not only the Greeks of Campania but also the Egyptians, the Pompeian and herculean religious practices were diverse from others as they had the pantheons involved such as Jupiter, Juno, Minerva, Vesta, Ceres, Diana, Venus, mars, and mercury, Neptune, Vulcan and Apollo. Religion in Pompeii and Herculaneum was very broad and polytheistic as they worshipped more then one god therefore Deities and others were worshipped in different ways and peoples worships was in a form of offering, sacrifices, festivals, games and rituals. The practices of belief and rituals were either in public or private areas such as their homes. A lot of the gods /goddesses were seen phenomenal immortal forces and believed to posses certain powers and were associated with different factors of life.

Each was unique, but still shared a few of the same traits. While the Aztecs were the most prominent users of human sacrifice, the Mayans also participated in such rituals. What makes historians distinct and separate from other historians who write on the same topic or during the same time period is their writing style, their views, and what their goals were. For instance, ancient historians Livy and Polybius chose topics and underlying themes that were relatively similar; however, it was their narrating techniques that differentiated them from one another. Because both Livy and Polybius wrote about history that took place during the same time period; their historical writings were similar. Livy covered the time period from the founding of the Roman city to his present time, which is a much longer time period than Polybius covered; however, they both focused on the similar historical events. One of their main differences was that Polybius believed it was necessary to depict events truthfully when writing historical documents; whereas, Livy approached writing about history more like a storyteller would.

Female Representation in Ancient Art and Society There is no question that the role women play in society has transformed significantly throughout the course of history. Some cultures were centered on the female entity as a symbol of life and fertility, while others strayed towards a more masculine focus. In many ancient cultures, it seems as though women were revered in a sacred light. Although there are scarce written records, if any, left behind by those people, we can draw conclusions about women in society based on the remaining pieces of visual art in existence today. Also, by looking at the composition, technique, and structure of these works, we are able to get insight on what the technology and culture in daily life were like in those far-away times.
