My fellow classmates, we finally made it. We made it to the day of our graduation. From this day on, we are the Sand Creek High School Graduating Class of 2012. We leave the lowerclassmen wishing they were one, too. Congratulations to us. Congratulations to whatever we may achieve in the future. Who should we thank for helping us graduate? Our teachers, friends or family? Why not thank them all? As a matter of fact, thank everyone, because with no one, you will get nowhere. Speaking of getting somewhere, how did we get here? It really is all a blur, isn’t it? Twelve years of school passed before your eyes with little room for lifetime memories. The most memorable things can be the smallest things such as walking into a small classroom, meeting new friends and maybe making a finger painting, or being something you will remember for the rest of your life such as walking across a stage to be handed your high school diploma. It truly is a wonderful journey; such a journey that will be missed and cherished forever and ever. We now have made it as high school graduates. One journey has ended, while a new one begins. Ralph Emerson once said, “Do not go where the path may lead; go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.” The worst way to possibly begin this new journey is doing what many average people would do, nothing. Make the journey what you want. Life is short and you should live it the way you want. When we were growing up as children, we were told we could be a firefighter, astronaut or even president. Nothing is impossible. You just have to have the will power to do so. A Valedictorian speech is supposed to be delivered in a farewell manner, saying goodbye to school and your fellow classmates and wishing them happy trails to the future.
