Along with a possibility of creating a large job market here in the U.S. with upwards of 600,000 people needing to operate this endeavor, we could take back our economy. The con for this is that it is still too new for us to determine what it can do to the land around where the fracking is taking place. There have been reports of water contamination as well as earthquakes due to displacing tectonic plates. There needs to be a more conclusive study done in order to determine whether or not oil and gas companies should be allowed to engage in fracking. At this time, I could not conclusively say yes or no to allowing fracking in the U.S. 2.
If the company has low skilled employees than they will not be making the most out of their assets because there will be more wastage in production, this can result in an increase in the amount being able to provide to the public. If production levels fall then the company will make less money because they will not be able to see as much to the public as they could if they did have highly skilled workers. Therefore it is important to review the workforce plan constantly to understand when more highly skilled workers will be needed. External The fact that the current market has a global shortage of mining professionals does cause a problem to the company’s long term projects. This is because the company will need highly skilled workers to maximise production without a large range to choose from.
(Maleske, M. 2010 Inside Counsel)" This case and others like it would surely start a huge liability case influx to other energy and oil companies worldwide. At the end of the day, most of these companies help to fund a great part of our economy; protecting them is a silent, yet major priority, which is partially why these cases will never make it to the Supreme
These opposing viewpoints include if we are using too much of them, the availability of them and how reliable they are. First of all, the first opposing viewpoint of this issue is if we are using up too much of our resources and how bad we are handling these issues. Here in America, we just resort to using our fossil fuels as our primary source of energy, but that has raised a lot of eyebrows and caused a lot of opposition. People of opposition did not like the fact of how these fossil fuels were being handled and how fast they were being used. Knowing that we have renewable resources, the opposing voices argued that we need to use less fossil fuels and more of the renewable resources.
But the way that he asks the questions, and states his opinion makes me believe to think he believes in drilling for oil. He says in his conclusion, that he is not taking a side. But his Arguments for drilling for oil are so much stronger than protecting the land in Alaska. For example, “No
What kind of safety measures are to be taken should there be an accident on a pipeline? Are these safety measures of the latest technologies so there isn’t another tragic accident like that which killed 11 people on an oilrig in the Gulf some years ago? Environmental concerns must be equated into the plans for any pipeline here in the Gulf and the purposed pipeline coming from Canada. If either pipeline were not supplied with the most modern up-to-date safety technologies that detect leaks in the lines, then I would not recommend either for completion until such measures are taken on either purposed drilling site.
Despite its success in extracting its first barrel of oil in July 1999, Talisman was accused of fueling the civil war, believing that the Sudan government used oil revenues to purchase weaponry. Talisman was also accused of being complicit in the genocide that was taking place in Sudan. This by no doubt has a great impact on Talisman’s reputation and caused a stir of controversy. However, it’s also a learning experience for the company when making future decisions and if ever they encounter similar situations they will be better equipped. What are the learnings from Sudan experience?
As Goddard was a “project-centric organisation” there was tough competition for funding. As “Resources became scarcer and competition between NASA agencies to get a slice of the funding increased” (Yemen, G. and Clawson, J. G. 2004, pg 4). This was a problem as to impose effective knowledge management, time and money was necessary. Problem Analysis Funding is an important issue as without the financial backing, knowledge management could not be
When people typically think of all of the problems in the Middle East, water scarcity is a problem that is forgotten often. This simply can’t be. Water scarcity is a huge issue in the Middle East and has been since they scientifically ran out of water in the 1970’s (Wessels 131). Much focus has been put on the importance of oil to the region, but water, I feel, is greater in importance. It’s a necessity for living and can not be over looked.
Countries whose economies depend on petroleum will be desperate and will need to rearrange the whole country. On the other hand countries like Colombia with a wide range of natural resources will become more important in the world economy. Countries with good technological advance in renewables will become also crucial to face the problem. Regions dependent on the resources of other countries will deal with the crisis, not only because of the lack of energy, but also because of the lack of food, water, medicine , etc. that they will not receive because of the absence of means to transport those
