In 1958, “Trader Joe’s,” started like any other convenience store chain with the usual products and stock. In 1967, founder “Trader,” Joe Coulombe, renamed the store to what we know as, Trader Joe’s. He then had the concept of offering one-of-a-kind foods from all over the world at below average prices in twenty odd states. They offer a laid-back enthusiastic consumer service, which involve management and crew member along with the consumers input to be knowledgeable through learning and tasting of the product it sells. This makes it easier to locate and to recommend a product or item to the consumer. It is encouraged as well as critical that the management or Mate are responsible, knowledgeable, and to encourage friendly “crew members,” which is very important to the success of Trader Joe’s. Trader Joe’s has a theme of a whimsical faux-nautical feel. The crew members and managers wear loud tropical shirts. In Trader Joe’s job description, he likes, friendly, customer oriented, employees with the desired skills (“ambitious and adventurous, enjoying smiling and have a strong sense of values”), with retail experience. They have a training program for its employees at Trader Joe’s University. They have opened more outlets on the East Coast and in the Midwest. The store continues to grow by breaking into markets “hungry” for reasonably priced gourmet products. 2. Ans. It would probably be political and economic change. It would not be able to operate effectively if or when the government of the other country, especially Germany, has a negative impact on the business.
