She believed that being a good housewife was not everything in life, and that you can still have a career. This dialogue is highly effective in portraying gender as it clearly depicts Katherine’s perspective of career opportunities for women. The use of costume and makeup explores the issue of gender correspondingly. In the scene “Etiquette class” the girls and the teacher are all presented formally and very feminine. Back in the 1950s, women had an obsession for perfect, flawless skin, neutral eyes, rosy cheeks, and rosy red lips.
This reflects Bonnard’s great sensory pleasure with colorful scenes. Yellow curtains draped on the right half of the window. Maria Boursin, his wife and longtime companion is seated at a round table that contains dishes and a fruit bowl. The figure standing on the left was most likely a maid or attendant. What thrills me the most about this painting is that his wife was in her fifties yet she appeared ageless, almost like her beauty never faded to him.
~ In this extract Kesey uses a simple task to highlight the type of power Nurse Ratched has. All the way through the conversation he describes the way she handles the task by “jabbing the needle” while still looking “calm and smiling” this is a symbol/ metaphor for the extreme power and control she has hidden by a “sweet angel” façade. This idea then links to a part where Harding talks about how Nurse Ratched is “ a veritable angel of mercy”. ~This extract is also a first introduction into the case of Mr. Taber, this then directly links up to a story the chief tells about him. When Nurse Ratched adds “For a while” this insinuates instantly before chief tells the story that something was done with Mr.Taber to restrict him from being a “Ward Manipulator”.

She Title uses play on words to pique interest looks at the camera with sunken eyes, smiling, acting beautiful. Her dress is Versace, or Gucci, or Dior, and it is revealing, revealing every bone and joint in her thin, thin body. She looks fragile and beautiful, as if I could snap her in two. Utamaro was well known and very famous for his wood block prints. Many of his designs consisted of Geisha or women in general. It is believed that he was born to the owner of a tea house, which means he would have been exposed at a very young age to the ways of the Geisha. He became very popular in France, especially among the impressionists artists for his ability to paint partial views, with light and shades. This poem is about a young geisha who is preparing herself for her nightly outing.
I mean, kitchen set, dining set, clothing set...You name it Barbie had it. It was interesting to me because behind the back of the Barbie's box, it was a very inviting and warm advertisement that attracted young girls attention to feel so 'girly'. It appeals to young girl's at a very young age, to grow up(or be) that perfect young lady. Then, I looked at the side across from Barbie, and I became aware that the new doll's that is replacing Barbie, is Bratz. They are more new, flashy, glitzy, and flirty,

Perfecting the craft Mrs. Jenkins created; stylists have made the sew-in an easier process. Some stylists still use the technique of sewing hair onto a net, and then sewing it on the client’s hair. Popular hairstylist Tokyo Vibez has quoted “ I like sewing hair onto the net because the hairstyle looks more fuller when done on a net. Its also great for women who doesn’t want their real hair to be damaged or pulled during the sew in process”. The sew-in has excelled from the traditional techniques; new techniques such as the braid less sew-in, versatile sew-in, and the vixen sew in have made its way to the hair-sewing world.
Mona Lisa’s look and expression was called enigmatic and mysterious because of her calm smile that was also known as a faded and unclear smile, which does not go with the warmth the one is supposed to see in her eyes. (Stokatad. Cateforis. Addiss, 2002, p.690). It is like the painter could not make her either smile or smirk.
