Andrew R. Weaver ENC1101 Flores 09/22/2013 The Wonder and Beauty of Peggy’s Chair Peggy’s Chair is a sculpture made by Dino Kotopoulis. Peggy’s Chair is from Dino’s Ego collection was finished in 1993. This piece is of Dino’s wife and is made out of carved pickled poplar with cedar lining. In the eyes of the beholder it seems as if Dino is trying to catch the beauty of his wife. In order to exemplify his talents to the best of his ability, Dino used graceful flowing relief lines and majestic contours meticulously carved into the thin wood used to make the chair. The sculpture captures Peggy in her youth wearing a flowing dress that shows her slender legs. Dino framed Peggy’s face with gently flowing locks of hair that ends in luscious curls. With gentle incisions he encompassed her eyes with curiosity and understanding through the medium that is her eyebrows. To add to the look of youth Dino gave Peggy luscious lips with the slight smile accustomed to the Mona Lisa. With her slender face and youthful body Dino gave Peggy’s Chair the look as if it were alive and listening to every word and understood every thought that her beholders have said and had. Yet it seems as if she is staring into their soul through lifeless eyes. Meanwhile her eyes are full of emotions that her face is unable to convey. Even her body though hidden under a wonderfully flowing wooden dress is slender and beautifully detailed. She sits unmoving with perfect posture and composure. The ever ruffled dress that Peggy will forever wear while she sits in her chair seems as though it is white even though it maintains the colors of the pickled poplar and cedar that she was sculpted from. Even though her dress is meant to reach her ankles as she sits her slender legs can be viewed while her feet gracefully float inches above the ground. The chair itself adds
