Since dolphins communicate by sonar, this noise frightens them because it is an abnormal sound. The dolphins try to escape but the fishermen herd them into the cove and block their escape route with layers of fishing net. some are captured and sent to aquariums, amusement parks and interactive “dolphin encounters" worldwide. “The dolphins are speared, hooked, hoisted into the air by their tails, and finally eviscerated alive. The methods, say researchers, result in a long and painful death for these intelligent marine mammals,” says an article in Science Letter.
That was just mind blowing to me and it showed why this business of shark finning is such a huge business. Also the movie talks about line fishing which I have never heard of before this video. Line fishing is when a fishing boat takes miles and miles of fishing line full of baited hooks and tosses it out in the water for fish, sharks, turtles, or just any type of sea creature to bit or get tangled in and die. Line fishing is illegal in most countries but there is such a huge business in it a lot of countries will not do anything to stop the fishermen from doing it. For example when Rob and the crew of the Sea Shepard were trying to stop the Varadera from line fishing the Varadera crew was let off the hook by the Costa Rica government even though they were illegally fishing, but the Sea Shepard was charged with 7 counts of attempted murder.
But, Ned Land was not happy at all, so he proposed to escape. As Conseil argued that is impossible to escape because they are underwater, Land told them that the submarine has to go up every two days to recycle the air. The submarine continued his way through the sea. At the coast of Papua, the Nautilus went to the surface and it was attacked by cannibals. As they touched the entrance, they cannibals screamed in pain and swam away.
The people behind us clapped. The old man waved them off and sat back down in the skiff to fan his face again”. The way Sonny explains what is happening seems like he has no clue what was going on and why they are doing the things they do. Another thing that happened in the chapter was Sonny and Keo went to catch a shark to show the director what a real one looks like. The boys set a trap for the shark and waited until the next day to find the buoy twenty feet underwater.
The Cove The first word that poped out of my mind after I saw the movie “The Cove” is “Wow”. In the film, Ric O’s Barry which was a dolphin trainer, he figured out that dolphins are such intelligent creatures, they shouldn’t be captive and fill humans’ happiness, and they belong where they came from, the ocean. In Japan, Taiji, 23,000 dolphins are being slaughters each year in the cove, it really harms the dolphins population, and nobody knows this is happening, not even the Japanese people. The Japanese government knew what was going on, they wanted money, they hid the facts, and they feed their kids with meats full of toxins. Should dolphins be living in a stressful life because of our human’s selfishness?
They run out of water while the weather gets really hot. Everyone blames him for killing the albatross that they replace the cross with dead albatross around his neck to remind him of his error. Next, he indirectly get everyone on the ship dead because of the sin he commits. Feeling guilty, the Mariner wants to pray because he is still be cursed. But the Mariner escapes his curse by unconsciously blessing the water snakes, and the albatross drops off his neck into the ocean.
The team heads toward a small lighthouse, in hopes of being rescued. The crashing breaking waves convince the men that even though the shore is in sight, the boat will not make it so they turn back out to sea. Their morale is further trampled when they see people on the beach waving to them, but no one makes a move to help. By the second day they decide to push through the surf as far as they can and then abandon the boat and swim for shore. Before they could make a volunteer exit, a wave upends the boat and dumps them into the icy sea.
And I am not afraid" before jumping down a waterfall to evade being captured again. This is an especially brave thing to do since a member of his hunting tribe was pushed off a cliff into the waters when they were first held captive. The power of his father’s last words are enough for him to risk his life in order to get back to his own son. Zero Wolf (Raoul Trujillo) is the leader of the warriors who invaded the village. At first we think he may have some mercy when he tells one of his men he wants Jaguar Paw alive and tells one of the warriors off for pushing a hostage off a cliff, but as the story progresses he becomes more and more violent.
For the first 3 days until Santiago eventually kills the fish, the sailor bears the strain of the line with all of his might incase the Marlin tries to break free. As Santiago finally sets sail for home, the next two days he must fight off sharks that try to and eventually do eat away at the Marlin. He endures many cuts along his hands and face and must eat other fish he kills so he doesn’t starve. I believe the quote “A man can be destroyed but not defeated” develops and is illustrated in this book because it is exactly what happens to Santiago on his fishing voyage. Although the words destroyed and defeated can often mean the same thing, the quote “A man can be destroyed but not defeated” means that someone can keep losing over and over again, but as long as he continues to at least try, then he is not truly defeated.
Also this causes a growing conflict between Ahab and himself. He is always trying to prove to himself that he is superior. However, in the end, the whale wipes out all but one of the crew members. The ship is wrecked and Ahab is killed. Ahab’s personality and physical characteristics introduce many symbols.
