“Subway” and “Sunset Boulevard” have chosen to let us make a healthier choice when we want junk food. Unfortunately many people don’t know how healthy those two chain stores are. These also contain a high content of fat, sucker and salt. Not as much as “burger king” and “McDonald’s” but it’s still not that healthy. The burger chain stores lost some of the costumers because of this so they decided to make a “healthy alternative”.
Price, fast food is usually very cheap, which is perfect for teens, young adults and people on a budget. Taste, we all love the taste of Big Macs and those crispy, golden fries. These three reasons have made the fast food industry one of the biggest in the world. However, foods like these can cause a wide range of medical problems, such as but not limited to extreme obesity, blocked arteries (which cause heart attacks), and an increase in blood pressure. These problems are detrimental to our individual health, and can eventually cause major expenses for the society as a whole too.
Fast Food is Injurious to Our Health Fast food was never made to be healthy. In fact, its purpose was to prepare and serve food very quickly. Reasons we prefer fast food is, firstly, it is definitely cheaper, especially for people who live on their own. In today’s world, with more people spending more time at work than at home, consuming a healthy 'homemade' meal on a regular basis becomes very difficult. With time passing by quickly, fast food seems to be the most quick, easy, cheap and irresistible food to eat up.
There are also advertisements directed towards children through television and magazines. In all reality it is an individual’s choice to become obese because of their decision to walk into these restaurants and order food that are delicious at the time but is very harmful for their bodies. To begin, do grocery stores really need fast food joints in them? I understand that it makes more money because people are hungry either before or after their long shopping trip. However this makes it hard for those who are trying to make a change in their lives and eat healthier foods for whatever reasons.
Junk food tastes good, 4. Healthy foods don’t have enough of flavor, 5. I love chocolate, 6. Fast food is fast, 7. All my friends eat fast food and I don’t want to be left out, 8.
Morgan says that if you just had a burger, you wouldn’t be so bad. He says it is the French Fries that are really bad for you. Besides the fact that fast food isn’t good for you, it is also addictive. More and more kids are getting obese. McDonalds is a favorite hang out for teens.
What people do not know is that Junk food is “generally refers to foods that contribute lots of calories but little nutritional value”. Yes don’t get me wrong Junk food tastes good like Candy, Cookies, Hot Pockets, etc. satisfies your craving but throughout the day you become hungry and want to consume more. The issue is that people continue to eat Junk food while they are just damaging their bodies becoming obese or getting diseases. Junk food has been easily accessed and available all over the world.
We look at these types of foods for pleasure, taste or even confront for some people, but this can lead to an addiction. What exactly is the definition of junk food? Junk foods have very little or no nutrient value that can be classified as “junk foods”. These foods contain very low amount of vitamins, minerals and protein, but high amounts of calories from fats and sugars which leads to obesity. Some popular and well known junk foods that we teenagers love are: Chewing gum (if not sugar free), any candy related to chocolate, cookies, potato chips, Drink lots of sodas including energy drinks, and eating at any fast food restaurants that are close by.
However due to sales, deals, catchy slogans, and it’s simple convenience, we are forced into making the decision of getting fast food without realizing it thus displaying lack of personal responsibility. People who believe blame resides in companies often say the damage is near reversible, however this could not be more wrong. Today, I do not eat a lot of fast-food, I still prefer to have a home cooked meal. Fast-food is okay for a treat but should not be a normal everyday meal plan. I have always had issues with my weight and I contribute some of it back to all the easy meals we were fed as children.
