If I am on a work assignment one of my favorite tools to research is twitter. I find it to be a quick news feed and I usually learn about news first from there before learning it from the mainstream media such as television or radio. Social media continues to make strides to make communication more accessible and easier for all of us.
As our consumers view our pins and re-pin them our brand is exposed to new consumers as well as untapped markets. Facebook is a social app that allows us to easily reward our consumers for their loyalty and friendliness. If they choose to get the Facebook Places app they will be able to share with their friends about where they are and show that our brand is good and trustworthy. Without trust and interaction between the brand and consumers the brand cannot grow. The best way to gain that interaction is through social
Because of this, there has been a massive effect on the amount of socialising between friends and family; using technology in online social messaging websites such as Bebo, MSN, Facebook and many more. Through these social messaging websites, more and more people can interact with their friends and family all over the world. An expert professor David Crystal has supported the idea of web-based messages and disagrees with the view that slang and contractions leads to a lower English standard of language. In Josh Roses’: How social media is having a positive impact on our culture, in Current Issues Page.612. Josh states, “I recently asked the question to my face book friends: “Twitter, Face book, Foursquare … is all of this making you feel closer to the people or farther away?” There would be a lot different responses because some people might agree and say that it does bring me closer to people and other might say no, it keeps us farther away from people of our age. I see people intertwining with the use of social media in and out on a daily basis to keep up with life. The use of social media technology is also being used in the education world and is becoming increasingly more normal in classrooms all across our country. There are handful of benefits behind the use of social media in an educational system.
Social media also let us keep in touch with family members and friends that live far away; we can stay connected by sharing pictures and videos, even if they live across the country or even around the world. It could also boost confidence when having positive feedback from friends. On the other hand, social networking can have a serious threat on children and young teen’s health and social development. Over 60% of 13-17 year olds have at least one profile on a social networking site, many spending more than 2 hours per day on social networking sites. (“Children and Social Networking”).
Real time Twitter data ranking and recommending articles from a collection of really simple syndication feeds can also be considered as datasets. And one of the conclusions is that users with more friends tend to benefit more. Topic relevance and the social voting process were helpful in providing recommendations. User friends consistently provided better recommendations. For example 90% of users believe the book recommended is good from friends, 75% of users believe that the recommendation is useful from friends.
Too much of anything is never a good thing. Negative psychological effects are common in individuals who actively participate on social media for hours on a daily basis. In 2008, UCLA conducted a study which revealed web users had literally altered their prefrontal cortexes due to, in part, to the fast pace of social networking sites rewiring the brain with repeated exposure. “In 2012, Medical News Today reported on a study suggesting that Facebook use may feed anxiety and increase a person's feeling of
