TGIF Case Analysis I. A. Macro (Organizational) 1. As an organization, Quantum Software is facing a liability issue. By serving alcohol at a weekly company party, Quantum Software is assuming the risk of a serious accident that can occur if one or more of the employees were to get into an accident. 2. Quantum Software seems to be understaffed. Employees are required to work long 16-hour days 6 days a week. The “beer bust” is just an excuse to let employees overlook the long hours and not to complain about being worked so hard. B. Micro (Individual/Group) 3. Employees can experience lack of authority by looking at Erin and Stan as “friends” and not their bosses. Since they are used to having these parties with alcohol and using “first-name” basis, they may not take direction from Erin and Stan seriously. Or they may feel like they can retaliate against what Erin and Stan say if problems were to arise. 4. Professional integrity can be compromised since employees are used to seeing their coworkers and higher authorities intoxicated. 5. Employees may not take their work as serious knowing that they will still be rewarded with the “beer bust” at the end of the week. They can start taking advantage of the company. II. Causes 1. Stan and Erin are requiring their employees to work long, strenuous hours. They feel the need and obligation to hold a party so their employees can “unwind.” 2. Some employees are tending to get out of hand and causing small accidents. This may pose to be a larger liability issue if a more serious accident was to occur. 3. Trying to find ways to keep employee morale high. III. Systems Affected 1.
