References Introduction For all of the debate surrounding technology, and the immediate justice it provides, a whole host of questionable decisions in football competitions ensured that it remains a hot topic. Football purists don’t want to see it as part of the game, but the vast majority of topflight managers, players, and the fans have weighed into the debate. In this report it will examine whether the introduction of technology can change the future of football. As Bob Wilson, the former Arsenal goalkeeper recently argued: “cricket, rugby, tennis and a host of other sports use technology, why can’t football follow suit?” (Wilson 2009). The report will look at the benefits on why FIFA should introduce technology into football to help referees make vital decisions. The report will also take a look at how other sports use technology and see if the game has improved or not since the introduction of hawk-eye, however UEFA President Michel Platini believes goal-line technology would lead to "playstation football". This report will look at some major cases in football from the past 5 years and determine the value of the incident it has cost a team and what would have happened if FIFA introduced Hawk-eye. There are many people in the world who disagree with goal-line technology because it will affect lower league clubs and competitions across Europe, this report will look at the solutions to overcome these issues.
