When the color gold shows up, it clearly means wealth. Towards the beginning of chapter 1, Nick was visiting two old friends of his in East Egg; Nick observed a Georgian colonial mansion with a huge lawn “broken by a line of French windows glowing….with reflected gold….” (Fitzgerald 11) In this description, the color “gold” clearly means wealth and also
(World book ency.) I have learned that the Biltmore is a mansion of beauty. And many people like to visit it during the holidays. George W. Vanderbilt was a very smart man when he decided to build this house because it has become a great success. I also learned that the Biltmore has very many activities for the guests to participate in.
He was born in Persia to native Persian speaking parents in the village of Wakhsh. The most important influences upon young Rumi, besides his father, are said to be the Persian poets Attar and Sanai. Rumi in one poem expresses his appreciation: "Attar was the spirit, Sanai his eyes twain, And in time thereafter, Came we in their train" and mentions in another poem: "Attar has traversed the seven cities of Love, We are still at the turn of one street". Rumi met another Sufi saint and mystic, Shams-e Tabrizi, on 15 November 1244 that completely changed his life. From an accomplished teacher and jurist, Rumi was transformed into an ascetic.
Gold adornes the hand-carved five million dollar marble Hindu sanctuary with flags atop every highly elevated structure. A smiling face greets you as you enter the cast iron gates inquiring about your visit entering into what many would proclaim as an eastern paradise. After parking our car, my mother, grandmother, sister and I walked up to the mandir in reverence and awe. The architecture of this ornate holy structure very much resembles famous pictures of the Akshardham Mandir in New Delhi or the Khajuraho Mandir in Madhya, India. Unlike other Hindu temples overseas, the Shri Swaminarayan Mandir here in Lilburn,
John F. Kennedy who was indeed the thirty-fifth president made an outstanding impact on the United States of America. He did do many great things in our country. When Anthony send for Cleopatra to meet with him at Taros in Cilicia in order to assure Egypt’s loyalty to him, Cleopatra appeared in front of him as a glittering spirit, the incarnation of Isis-Aphrodite (Egypt p.26) .This incarnation was delimited by extraordinary effects (Egypt p.26). To Anthony Cleopatra was an Aphrodite, Queen of love for the rest of his life (my p.15) This meeting had been proposed to terrify Cleopatra instead Anthony felled in love (Egypt p26). This is a perfect example of how queen of Egypt demonstrated her amazing talent for diplomatic influence which unquestionably established Egypt’s future. ( Egypt p.26). After Cleopatra and Anthony became lovers they made an agreement that Anthony will help her to fight her anomies and kill her sister Arsinoe, in return she will pay for his Partian campaign ( what kind of women p.6….).
My trip to the metropolitan museum was a trip that I have taken many times before, this time while I focused on the American wing I realized how much history was in one area. The American wing was set in a way that actually takes you thru all the eras. I loved the way the rooms all set a story and explained the way the history happened. First the “Washington Crossing the Delaware” 1851 by Emanuel Leutze . At a monumental 12.5-feet high and 21-feet-3-inches long, the picture has been a hit with visitors since it entered the Met in 1897.
This area of London is now known as Crystal Palace. The exhibition was opened on 1st May 1951 by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert with over 100,000 items of art and inventions on display. People bought expensive tickets to see the opening ceremony in the same way that people buy tickets for the Olympic opening ceremony today
Essence Rowe February 17, 2014 Mrs. Browning, ELA 3rd Block Rough Draft The white house is a very important building in U.S history. When Nick arrives home around two in the morning, he sees “Gatsby’s house, lit from tower to cellar” (81), and as he comes out of his taxi, he tells Gatsby that his “place looks like the World’s Fair” (81). Gatsby’s mansion being said to look lit as bright as the World’s Fair is saying that his house is huge and flamboyant and shows off his wealth. This image shows that Gatsby is trying to prove that he is living a successful life through the home he owns. Another example through imagery is when Daisy and Nick come over and visits Gatsby’s house and Gatsby “took a pile of shirts and began throwing them, one by one…shirts of sheer linen and thick silk and fine flannel” (92). Gatsby throwing his “shirts of sheer linen and thick silk and fine flannel” is him trying to show Daisy how wealthy he is enough to afford such beautiful shirts.
