RELIGIOUS BELIEF SHOULD BE A MATTER OF CHOICE; SHOULD NOT PARENTS TEACH THEIR CHILDREN ABOUT RELIGION. My interpretation of this particular statement is that parents should be teaching their children about religion however, it is up to the parents and the religion they follow of whether they should teach their children about religion or not. Although to respect your parents is one of the Ten Commandments in Judaism, it may not always be done because of the relationship you have with them or sometimes you wish not to do what they have told you. This links to the choices and decisions of themselves and to learn to be independent for the real world. Some people think that when they are a certain age, the children will make their own decision of whether to be a theist, agnostic or atheist because at the end of it all they are living in this world independently and I think they have the right to make their own decisions and choices so they can, see where their own choices take them through life.
In The Simpson’s series the family consists of two parents, Homer and Marge, and their three children Lisa, Bart, and Maggie in the town of Springfield. Likewise, in Family Guy their dysfunctional family consist parents Peter, and Louise; and their children Meg, Chris, and Stewie and their talking dog Brian, but played a big part in the series as well. Both families go through every day life situations like Peter being unemployed and trying to find a job to Meg being picked on in school and trying to figure out how to overcome it, while Homer has to deal with an annoying boss at work, and Bart constantly getting suspended at School. The great thing about these two shows is that almost every American family can relate to these experiences the only thing that the shows do different is add a batch of clever humor. The first differential is that The Simpson’s have been around much longer than Family Guy.
“Nerds and Geeks” Popularity, being well known, and skipping school just to be a part of the “crowd” or the cool people. Though not everyone can be a part of that world, and that’s where the “geeks” and “nerds” come in. Their story and why we need them is exclaimed in Leonid Fridman’s piece, “America needs its nerds.” To make his point clear he uses satire, making it straight forward and humorous, also making it enjoyable for the reader. He uses an appealing set of word choice in his writings to keep the reader interested from the beginning to the end. Creating a relationship between the readers through pathos make Fridman piece a better read.
Everyone easily realizes it is about the event 9/11. Another example is “A Boo Grave” with three kids dressing like they are playing a game in the Halloween which is actually an image of prison abuse in Iraq or “Dear Leader” with a boy posing in front of a carton mushroom-shaped cloud actually is an image of supreme leader Kim Jong Il of North Korea. They introduce the readers to a gallery with visual images and description. He wants to let them see how the kids have taken what they see in life through the media and incorporate it into their play, especially in an exaggerative way. Each of them is so unique to catch people’s attention from the first glance.
South Park effectively enlightens viewers on concerns that are relevant to daily life, while keeping their attention through bold humor on the issue presented in the episode. Our generation gains most of our opinions on worldly issues through word of mouth or through the media. In the South Park episodes “Cartoon Wars” and “Miss Teacher Bangs a Boy” issues such as terrorism and pedophilia are the main subject matter. Day in and day out our youth hears of terrorism and its effect on society, only a handful of teens watch the news regularly and gain insight on the issue. In the South Park episode “Cartoon Wars”, the citizens of South Park are anticipating a Muslim terrorist attack because the show Family Guy used the Muslim prophet Muhammad as a character.

If I had a young child attending Jane Elliot's class in the second grade I wouldn't want them to undergo the experiment. I think that a child's mind is not strong enough and this might scar them emotionally and mess with their ego. I think parents definitely have the right to determine whether or not their child participates in this experiment. I think it is unlawful that they do the experiment without a parental consent. The pain that the children may experience is not worth the lessons they may learn from the project.
According to Coles, parents have difficulty explaining ethics to their children because they don't want to shatter their kids innocence. They tend to keep them in a bubble so their kids don't grow up with bad experiences, yet they tell them what to believe in. “In many homes parents establish moral assumption, mandates, priorities. They teach children what to believe in, what not to believe in. They teach children what is permissible or not permissible” (61).
First, parents shouldn’t substitute their time with their children with gifts. They should try as much as they can to spend as much time as possible with them. They should show their kids, not just tell them. “No means no. That’s final.” These parents should help their kids distinguish between wants and needs.
Something has to be done in order to prevent these types of incidents from happening. We can’t sit around and wait for our school officials and public leaders to spring into action. We as parents, must start at home, teaching our kids right from wrong, not sheltering them from all the negativity and allowing kids to experiences some bad obstacles. This will put them in a place to be able to deal with it later on in life when obstacles arise. Although, this may not prevent such tragedies from occurring, we as a nation will know that we tried and will continue to try to prevent and educate our youth to better handle situations like this.
