SCCC & EFAA Sister Carmen Community Center (SCCC) origins come from Catholic nun named Sister Carmen Ptacnik. Sister Carmen came to Lafayette in 1970 to help many of the low-income households in the community. The Center officially opened its doors October 25, 1976 by John Fiorini and his employer, IBM; they provided funds to start the Sister Carmen Community Center. In 1978 the (SCCC) was incorporated as a non-profit organization. Sister Carmen’s name was kept in her honor (sccc). Emergency Family Assistance Association (EFAA) is a non-governmental non-profit organization. Since 1918 EFAA has been supporting low income families in Boulder and Broomfield Counties who have nowhere else to turn when they can’t meet their basic needs (efaa). However, (SCCC) and (EFAA) are two outstanding organizations in Colorado. Even though, both organizations are similarities on service provided and populations served.
