Gene therapy has the potential to correct the underlying cause of a disease, unlike most conventional medicines that treat the symptoms of a disease. In the future, new technologies may offer people more control over their bodies; not just genetically perfect health, but cosmetic benefits too. The issue at hand is whether it is moral/ethical to alter our body’s set of basic
These primates are used in research into neurological studies, behavioral studies, genetics, to help better surgical procedures like brain and heart surgery , vaccine and drug testing, and for reproduction studies. Many feel that nonhuman primate research is critical in gaining insight and helping to advance in human medicine. In this post they state, “Many argue that the lives of animals may be worthy of some respect, but the value we give on their lives does not count as much as the value we give to human life” (Animal Testing). This research helps to learn and ensure the safety of drugs and other substances to humans (Animal Testing). Not only does some of this research help human lives, but it is also essential in helping animal lives as well.
How is it that humans can test on animals, while the animals feel everything that humans feel? It shouldn’t be okay to test on animals because they have the same pain tolerance as humans do. The testing on animals is dangerous and it is harming the animals; it is cruel to the animals by keeping the animals locked up in cages, humans use the animals for testing the products that the humans use for the use of humans only, and it is unfair to the animals by keeping them in the lab and not letting the animals run around. Humans shouldn’t be able to test on animals. The humans that say testing on animals helps the United States with the problems that are going on and make sure the product is safe to use so it can be tested on animals to see if it will harm the humans before the use.
Some people say these experiments are cruel, and animals should not be used. While others say they would rather see these experiments done on animals instead of humans themselves. b. Thesis statement- Animal experimentation for medical purposes should be carried out, instead of scientist performing human tests. c. Main points- My main points are; medical advances for humans due to animal experiments, medical advances for animals due to animal experimentation, how the animals are really treated, laws that are enforced, and why animals are used. 2.
No two people are the same and their reaction to medication differs. The reason for this is found in the genome of an organism. Knowing the differences will play a key role in a person’s health. Personalized medicine has some potential benefits. If scientists can discover what role your genes play in how you will react to drugs, then they can provide you the best medication for you earlier in the process.
Stem cells have also been used for bone marrow transplants when bone marrow donation is not available. Although stem cell research is very costly at the same time it is very worth saving the lives of those who suffer from certain disease. In doing embryonic stem cell research the discarded embryos can be used to help mankind. Embryonic stem cell research should be
Drug manufacturers test medications on animals after they have been injected with viruses and diseases to see if the medications work on the animals. There are many companies who use animal research to test their products; unfortunately these organizations do not look for alternatives besides animal testing. If these atrocious acts were committed outside laboratories, they would be felonies. But animals suffer and die every day in laboratories with little or no protection from cruelty. It is immoral to
This job is recommended, in my opinion because you have the great opportunity to improve someone, or something’s life. With a career in veterinary medicine you can simultaneously improve the lives of animals and make a living. Unlike humans, animals are not able to physically explain to us what is wrong with them. That is why veterinarians are so important. They are trained to examine the animal’s abnormal behavior and link it to the symptoms of a disease.
It has contributed in the treatment of medical issues also. In some cases, animal testing has greatly helped animals, for instance there have been programs that have aimed to re-establish populations of threatened or endangered species by making appropriate living conditions and improving the well-being of captive animals. Animal research also helps explain the central nervous system, and in understanding how the nervous system works we are able to understand behaviours that are problematic in mental illness, drug addiction and memory disorders. 90% of the animals used in psychology research are rodents i.e. rats, mice, birds and pigeons.
Those for it tend to define it as using animals to benefit humans and save lives. Well known supporters of animal testing such as the British Royal Society make the argument that virtually every medical achievement made in the 20th century was somehow reliant on animal testing. Notably, the National Academy of Sciences states that even the most sophisticated
