Serial Killers and Abuse March 31, 2011 The term serial killer was coined in the 1970s due to cases such as Ted Bundy andDavid Berkowitz. A serial killer is described as an individual that has committed a minimum of three to four killings with a resting period in between killings. The victim is usually randomly picked by the killer and is not know to the victim. The killings are to reflect a need to sadistically dominate the victim instead of for profit. The murders that are committed by serial killers are not material but more of a psychological motive. Most serial Killers reveal their symbolic value to the victim through the methods that they use to kill the victim. These individuals that have became serial killers seem to be just like any other ordinary individual. They are hard working, polite, soft-spoken and generous. They only way that one person could identified that the individual is a serial killer is if they were to look into their personality. In some sense or form these person’s have been abused as a child, either mentally, physically or verbally. They take all of their childhood experience rather good or bad an apply it to their day to day lifestyle. According to DirJournal info Blog, Bundy stared killing women after he was dumped by his girl-friend who he spend years trying to get her back and finally after she made the decision to take him back he began killing women . The victims of Ted Bundy were individuals that resembling this young female. He began to have a strong addiction to sex, he would lure his victims in and rape and sexually assaulted them before killing them and then after they were dead he would dump their bodies and return later on to have sex with them again. Belle Sorenson Gunness start killing between the year of 1900 and 1908. Belle got pregnant by a man who obviously didn’t want to have a baby with her who kicked her in her stomach in a public area causing her to lose her child. Soon after the man disappeared and was never seen again. She began to meet other men who she then married and a few months later went missing and she collect their insurance money and went on to find another man. Gary Ridgway known as the “Green River Killer” Ridgway was another young man who had a very controlling mother, who later in life had some type of sexual desire. According to Ridgeway he didn’t like or wanted to pay prostitutes to have sex with him. Gary choose to kill prostitutes as victims because he knew they were easy to pick
