MENTAL HEALTH AND SCHIZOPHRENIA Joanne Rouse PSY 326 Instructor: Tara Lally 9/27/2015 One of the main reasons for my research and studying those who may have serious mental health disorders, mainly schizophrenia, is that when children have behavior problems it just gets pushed aside and excuses made, instead of being looked into further for any kinds of mental problems. Nothing seems to be done until someone whether child or adult ends up hurting someone or like we have seen many times, bringing guns to school and going on a rampage. Some of the main questions to be asked would pertain to childhood and things which may have happened to cause an individual to have these disorders. The hypothesis would be; Most of our serial killers and violent or sexual offenders have some kind of psychotic mental disorder, mainly schizophrenia, having voices that control many things they do. The research could be both qualitative and quantitative because data is collected and measured by percentages of participants and their behaviors and responses to each different study, but it is mainly a qualitative research, because participants are being studied by their behaviors and passed behaviors and also they are questioned and their responses are counted and studied and compared to others.
With the CBCL, the clinician simply scans the results and examines which symptoms seem to be troubling, according to the parent. Some checklists may require the clinician to tally the score up to get a composite score, which may point to problems with anger, attention, etc. Parents are frequently involved in the assessment of child and adolescent functioning, and are most often the person who pursues child mental health referrals. Parents are able to provide the therapist or clinician with information about the child’s
Shanna L. Cannoy Professor Sarah Lupinacci English 102 26 July 2011 The Effective Use of Medication is Needed for Controlling ADHD Symptoms in Children When parents have children with a health issue such as diabetes medication is sometimes necessary to control the disease. While ADHD is a mentally debilitating disorder, many people including some parents of their own children, with ADHD, will not help their child by the use of medication. It is a parent’s job to do everything possible to ensure their child’s ability to succeed with their best interest in mind. Why would a parent deny their children a sufficient way to survive better socially, academically, and emotionally when the option is present to help them do so? Robert Findling says it best with his question ‘‘Why would you want to let a child suffer unnecessarily?’’ ( qtd.
Recognizing ADHD in Children Laniqua Spicer East Carolina University Professor Bonita Sasnett Written Communication and Documentation in Health Care 3030 Section 2 November 20, 2012 Abstract ADHD is a disorder found in children while in their early primary stage. The children who encounter this disorder often have a hard time excelling in academics and physical development. There has been research done to better understand children who have to deal with ADHD. The results showed there was a differentiation amongst children in different stages of ADHD. Some forms of ADHD in certain children may seem to be more severe than others.

They had decent experiments for the children to perform but weren’t that demanding. For example, the speech; why would a mother be concerned or show anxiety if the only thing the child had to do was read it in front of one person and a camera? I think they should have had an audience for the child to perform in front of. I think the puzzle was a good one because a child would get frustrated by not solving it. A mother would not want to see her child fail and this would cause increased anxiety in her and in turn, the child would see that and also have more anxiety.
A Beautiful Mind: Schizophrenia, Psychosis, and Life Span Disorders PSY/410 October 18, 2011 Abstract In the not so distant past; the diagnosis and treatment of severe mental illness such as Schizophrenia, Psychosis, and Life span development disorders were treated with distain; shutting away the victim of such diseases as though they were something to be ashamed of. The field psychology has come a long way in a short period of time; incorporating many factors into diagnosis and treatment. The analysis of the main components associated with diagnosis and treatment of Schizophrenia and Psychosis lends much needed understanding in order to promote more effective ways to therapies, interventions and preventions of these disorders.
