Loss of income At the time of the injury on 19 October 2009 the Claimant was employed by the Defendants as a General Labourer. His gross salary had been increasing at an average rate of £866.67 per annum, as follows: Year Gross salary Net salary 6.4.2006-5.4.2007 £25,000 £18,558 6.4.2007-5.4.2008 £26,000 £19,228 6.4.2008-5.4.2009 £27,000 £19,956 6.4.2009-4.1.2010 £20,700 (39 weeks) £15,853 (39 weeks) His net weekly pay at the time of the injury was £406.49 (£530.77 gross). It is probable that his earnings would have continued to rise at an average of £866.67 gross p.a., which is equivalent to about £640 net p.a., or £12.31 net p.w. On 4 January 2010 the Defendants dismissed the Claimant as he was no longer able to carry out the duties of his job. Due to the nature of his injuries, the Claimant has remained unemployed since 4 January 2010, and is never likely to be able to work again. The Claimant’s past net loss of income is therefore as follows:- From 4 January 2010 until 5 April 2010 13 weeks x £406.49 net weekly pay £5,284.37 From 6 April 2010 until 5 April 2011 52 weeks x £418.80 net weekly pay £21,777.60 From 6 April 2011 until 5 April 2012 52 weeks x £431.11 net weekly pay £22,417.72 From 6 April 2012 until 6 December 2012 35 weeks x £443.42 net weekly pay £15,519.70 Total past loss of earnings £64,999.39 2.
