Others join armed groups out of desperation. Child Soldiers are not morally responsible for the acts they commit during wars because they are drugged up, are given no choice, and brainwashed. First, child soldiers are so drugged up on weed and cocaine that they have no real understanding of what they are really doing. According to Institute for War and Peace Reporting, “Child soldiers are drugged by militia leaders. They become violent and addicted...” The fact that children under the age of 20 are being forced to take hard core
The drug addicts lose all respect for themselves and these addictions end up taking over their lives. Maybe the addicts are right when they say the addictions are their own fault and aren’t a reflection towards their troubled childhood. Addicts may just get caught up in the wrong situation at the wrong time and end up getting addicted to a drug just to fit in with peers. Drug addictions will create emotional distress no matter whose fault it
The youth involved in gangs have been introduced to the racially discriminated environment because the hatred of other towns and the people that live there, not only because they are enemies but because of their craving of being superior, being better than another race. By being discriminated people feel sad, mad, or sometimes they might not care at all depending on their educational status. “Welcome back nigger” comments like these don’t bother uneducated gang members because the careless mind, focusing only on anything gang related which is what their life revolves. “In my younger years that wouldn’t have bothered me much. But with my new direction and expanded cautiousness, it struck me hard.” Education is the answer to a better understanding of things and a better
The 18th amendment contributed to the rise of organized crime because it created a lot of underground business. From killings to people living in poverty, that’s what the prohibition caused. If people really thought that prohibiting alcohol to be sold leally were going to help the way that people lived during this time, they were wrong. A lot of people were against the law, they argued that if they banned alcohol legal businesses were going to go broke and that was not going to help the economy get better. But alcohol was not the only thing breaking families apart they said, after the war, soldiers would come home and find themselves in a whole, struggling to find jobs.
We ain't got no choice and if that means getting killed... its what we do around here to feed our family.” Another cause of this problem is the lack of choices they can make. When living in the neighborhood as some of these gang members do its hard to be successful and make a name for yourself. At the end of the day they will do what they have to, to feed their families. If that means risking their lives selling crack to make $3.30 an hour then that’s what has to be done. A final quote that supports this is “They did however pay dues to the gang-some for protection, other for the chance to eventually earn a job as a foot soldier.
To put more emphasis on how the combined justice system and juvenile sanctions are outdated I must share with you an experience I encountered the other night. I witnessed two juveniles individuals who have been convicted of previous crimes and placed on probation shoot and kill an innocent man in cold blood. If the youth were more focused on their probation and the consequences they probably wouldn’t have been able to be to commit this serious act of violence. The juvenile delinquents didn’t heed the warnings placed before them on behalf of the courts, due to the simple fact the courts outdated system is hard to comply with or keep account of the new millennium youth these days. The two juveniles were from a small town with a population of a few thousand in which the community and environment doesn’t set any positives goals for the youth to look forward too.
I have seen drugs ruin people’s lives and tear apart their family, there is no doubt that anyone should be doing drugs, let alone kids. The zero tolerance policy is no good for kids, we need to have a different way of going about punishment. Is a zero tolerance policy absolutely necessary? Zero tolerance policy is needed for controlling drugs, but there are negative effects of this policy. If caught with drugs at school students are faced with big trouble, such as, suspension
The youth of today are destroying their future because no one cares about them today. Body I. Did you know the reason why youth join gangs, abuse drugs, and drop out of high school is because they do not have a positive adult in their
And most people won’t even know their identity’s been stolen until it’s too late and they become a victim to identity theft. Identity thieves can cause a lot of harm to their victims, such as stealing their personal information; several negative effects identity theft has on its victims are using your identity for criminal activities, financial loss, and it can even put people in physical danger. The most important effect identity theft causes is that criminals can use your identity to commit crimes. Such as drug smuggling or crossing state lines they can commit fraud to gain government benefits. And by using their identity to commit these crimes can seriously damage someone’s reputation.
Taylor Nordmeyer Prof. L Gertsma ENGL 1101 27 November 2012 Gang Control It’s no question that we have a major gang problem in the United States. More needs to be done to eliminate gangs, because they increase the drug flow, the crime rate, and intimidate citizens of their communities. Not all gangs are dangerous, but the ones that are, need to be contained because of their cruel behavior and their harsh crimes. Gangs become more powerful through these factors. Eliminating or controlling the drugs being distributed by gangs then their power will diminish.
