With all the technological advances being made, there will always be ethical issues that arise. I am always amazed when the topic of ethical issues comes up in any of my classes. The responses always produce a great deal of dialogue. It also gives a glimpse into different perspectives. There are some that you agree with and some you don’t. But one has to understand that everyone has their own way of interpreting what is right and wrong for which they base their morality. My take-away moment was when we took on the topic of the Safe Harbor Policy. The topic made me realize how much we have automated our world. You can’t call any business without going through some automated system. The Safe Harbor Policy is setup for self certification and for such a delicate matter of privacy and protection of consumer information you would think there would be more precautions in place to make sure that these countries are qualified to handle such information…show more content…
Everyone is looking to develop the next “Big Thing”. My question has always been and will always be, if you can develop these devices, why can’t you make sure that the threats and/or vulnerabilities are addressed. I can’t believe that they are not known to be there when their product is made available. I believe that it is all about their profit if their product is marketed first instead of making sure that they are putting out a product that can reasonably provide consumers a better sense of protection when it is used to possibly relay their confidential information. I have no illusions that any product is fail-safe or perfect but I think these companies that develop these products should bear some responsibility for their products. My way of thinking is to make sure I gain my consumer trust by producing a product that will provide a better sense of protection of their personal information especially with the ever changing landscape of the Information Technology
