How far do you agree that the impact of WW2 was the reason why the position of black Americans improved 1945-55? WW2 changed the civil rights for black Americans extremely quickly with many black Americans fighting in the war. This lead too many people actually respecting black Americans and helped them gain rights. With 1.2 million black Americans fighting for America against the fascists of Germany they realised that even though they were fighting for equality they didn’t even have this in their own country. This therefore questioned the double V campaign as it was supposed to be a victory at home as well as at war but without equality then this would not be possible.

Martin Luther King JR. Martin Luther King Jr. was a leader of the American Civil Rights movement. During the 1950’s and 1960’s, this movement helped African Americans gain the same rights as whites. During Martin’s lifetime, African Americans and whites were segregated. Laws also separated all blacks and whites in public places like theaters and restaurants .The laws also made it hard for blacks to vote and to get a good education. It also limited job opportunities for blacks.
King had a very strong opinion on segregation and made many personal sacrifices to put an end to it while Obama tried to defuse the uproar created by Reverend Wright’s remarks and called for more unity amongst the races. In the end, one plan is always going to be better when put into action, and in this case I believe that W.E.B. Dubois had the better plan. Both of these men set out to fix poverty and discrimination against blacks in America, but their strategies were radically different. Booker T. Washington felt that the only way to become equals in an unequal society is for blacks to work hard and become something. His idea was that if enough blacks were to become doctors, lawyers, businessman, and become successful in general that they could not be considered anything other than equal.
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Malcolm X drastically changed the lives of all African Americans. Both of these two men had a strong influence on the civil rights movement in the 1950s and 1960s. Though they would have the same goal, the two men had very different upbringings, which greatly influenced their different philosophies on leadership. Secondly, because of these different philosophies, the two of them set out to achieve their goals in very different manners. Lastly, even though the two men had differences in their civil rights leadership, they were both extraordinarily effective in reaching that goal.

Majority of black people say who were tired of waiting for freedom, justice, equality and respect say he clearly articulated their opinion and alarmed the world. Some people say Martin Luther King also proposed black people rights as well but his major achievement of black people was enlarging black people`s governmental and political participation scale.
5/17/12 Through out American history the basic rights we take for granted today were not available to everyone in America. As time progressed more groups of people gained equal rights such as women and eventually Blacks. Without support from Presidents, The Supreme Court and Organizations of Private citizens, many Americans would not have the basic liberties we enjoy today. Organizations of private citizens helped fuel the push to create and equal America. The most influential of all citizens wanting to create equality was Martin Luther King Jr. Martin preached to protest and boycott peacefully.
History Extended Essay The experience of African Americans during the Second World War was most definitely an important factor in the development of the Civil Rights Campaign after 1945, if not the most important. Civil rights before 1945 and the Second World War was present in America, though it was unorganised and seemingly ineffective. The black community did not have a driving force to get behind and there were other factors limiting cooperation such as the activity of the Ku Klux Klan. Blacks in America were seen as very much second class citizens, yet when the Second World War broke out, Black men enlisted immediately. Though despite their eagerness to defend their country, they received no respect from the US Military.
The freedom that we can enjoy in this country is the product of the founding fathers and all their efforts in the history of the United States to make this country a fair and just place to live for the American people. Throughout history our country has had its fair share of injustices as well as ratification of those injustices for the betterment of the moral in this country. Such movements such as the abolition of slavery. In the beginning of the formation in this country there were actions such as those that this country later acknowledged to be morally wrong and has changed them in its due time. There was always much opposition to any change as there always is.
