A study of computer-assisted learning examined the learning of “Blissymbols" by children. Blissymbols are pictographs (think of Egyptian hieroglyphs) that are sometimes used to help learning-impaired children communicate. The researcher designed two computer lessons that taught the same content using the same examples. One lesson required the children to interact with the material, while in the other the children controlled only the pace of the lesson. Call these two styles “Active” and “Passive.” Children were assigned at random to Active and Passive groups.

Through this, Haddon is explaining how autistic people have certain talents or hobbies that they are experts in. In this case, Haddon illustrates Christopher as an expert in mathematics. Christopher also has a photographic memory that he uses continually throughout the book. When Christopher runs away from home in attempt to find his mother, he has no information on how to find her except for his memory of reading her current address on a letter. During all the excitement that Christopher runs into, he doesn’t forget his mother address; his memory can visualize the letter and the address on it.

How parents can help * Connect with kids' teachers to find out where they're struggling, then use the site’s filters to pick games that help them practice those skills. * Encourage kids to set goals for different games ("I'll get to level 5," "I'll answer all addition questions correctly") and track their achievements with stickers or other small awards.

at this stage in life therefore it is important to expose them to as much information as possible so that they may form more informative perspectives. With this exposure we must understand that there are several different kinds of intelligences. A great application of this type of exposure is found in an article from the Tribune Business News called “Students Broaden intelligence with fair.” Students at Mesa Elementary School use the educational theory developed by Howard Gardner that describes an array of different kinds of intelligences.
