Romeo decided that he was in love with Juliet upon sight without knowing who she was (Shakespeare 924). This was a terrible choice Romeo had literally no idea who she was and this could have stopped the whole conflict of the play. Romeo then ignored his dreams which he believed told his destiny (Shakespeare 921-1009). While if Romeo listened to these dreams which he believed told the future he would have been much more cautious because he would know that he was going to die prematurely. Also, by him listening to his dreams he would have made either little or no poor choices later in the play which results in his death.
This would have kept Pyramus and Thisbe from sneaking out to meet each other, and Romeo and Juliet from hiding their marriage and prevented Romeo from being banished. However, there is no background given in either story of why the two families dislike each other. There is hot blood between the two lover's families in both tales. In addition, in both Romeo and Juliet and "Pyramus and Thisbe" one of the lovers becomes under the impression that the other is dead, and the ladder kills themselves. Romeo gets no news of Juliet's fake death, and he travels to the tomb where he says "For fear of that I will stay with thee/ And never from this palace
The conditions forced because of the animosity between the families made the couple feel prohibited to be together and thus hiding their love. Due to the rivalry two other important characters were killed, altering the ending of the play. Additionally, the star cross lovers can be held somewhat liable because overall it was their decision to take their own lives and their decision to continue with their relationship knowing all the risks and ramifications. Undoubtedly the most significant influence was fate. Fate predetermines every outcome of the play, because it is an intense energy that no one can control or change.
This, hopefully would have resulted in him not killing Tybalt. People could argue that Romeo only killed Tybalt simply because of his bad temper. A reason to support the view stating Romeo is fortunes fool and this bad act was destined to happen is the fact that Romeo is a Montague and Tybalt is a Capulet. This shows us that Romeo was born into bad luck, as both the families had always been rivals. Romeo and Tybalt are unable to prevent being born into these families, stating Romeo and Tybalt only fought considering that they were both born into families which had forever been enemies making Romeo bound to have killed Tybalt, or death could have easily occurred the other way round.
If they haven’t of been married would they still have killed themselves? Maybe if the Friar had of not wed them or told there parents if would have stopped them. The fight with Tybalt was what causes the banishment of Romeo. If Romeo hadn’t of killed Tybalt he wouldn’t have been banishment which would have mean he would have got the message about Juliets fake death and wouldn’t have killed himself. It was Romeos chose to fight Tybalt.
Romeo and Juliet have a love that is considered powerful. Powerful because many deaths occur without people knowing the love they both share for each other. The death of Romeo and Juliet could have been prevented and there are characters that can be blamed. Deaths don’t just occur out nowhere; they happen for a reason. Romeo and Juliet’s death can be blamed on Friar Laurence because he knew a lot about their relationship.
Upon further investigation, Friar Lawrence should receive the blame. Admittedly, Tybalt has a large influence on Romeo and Juliet’s death, because he caused the fight. Romeo tried to avoid it, but Mercutio joined in and started the fight and later Tybalt killed Mercutio. Romeo got mad and killed Tybalt and got exiled from Verona. However, Friar Lawrence is more responsible than Tybalt for the deaths of our “star cross’d lovers” because he allowed Romeo and Juliet marry and it caused Romeo to avoid the fight at first with Tybalt, than later tried to stop the fight between Tybalt and Mercutio and caused Mercutio to get killed by Tybalt.
The endless feuding between the two families is a major aspect that contributed to the lover’s tragedy. Romeo and Juliet are unable to be in love because of their family’s non-acceptance of their love and hatred for each other’s family. This is a crucial for many years, “from ancient grudge break to new mutiny”, without cause or even logic, as it suggests in the prologue “where civil blood makes civil hands unclean… two households both alike in dignity”. The family’s feud is displayed further with the e Verona’s ancient citizens cast by their grave beseeming ornaments, to weird old partisans, in hands as old canker’d with peace to part your canker’d hate.” – the prince is asking the families to resolve their conflict and remarks on how old it is that it is without cause and relevance to the current generation. Because of the families non-acceptance from an out-dated feud it results in the death of Romeo and Juliet, as it proclaims in the prologue “from forth the fatal loins of these two foes, a pair of star-crossed lovers take their life”.
Romeo and Juliet then continue to have secret meetings, until they are then caught and both families then come to realization that their children have been going behind their backs to see the child from their most hated enemies. Romeo and Juliet then try to persuade their families to believe that they are uncontrollably in love with one another. Being the stubborn adults that they are, both families did not agree and no longer allowed them to meet each other. When doing this, it stirs up more tension between the families when Romeo kills Tybalt; a member of the Capulet household. The Capulet’s exiled Romeo from the city and was forced to leave and never come back.
The Immaturity of Romeo and Juliet Romeo and Juliet is a timeless tale of lovers whose misfortune and immaturity was a cause of their own destruction. The characters individually show immaturity and together demonstrate how ignorance of the world affects more than just their own lives. Romeo and Juliet, as expressed in the succeeding examples, fall in love quickly as a result of their naivety. Juliet is shown to be immature in an opening scene where her father tells the bride-seeking Paris his daughter is not old and grown-up enough to marry. It is also shown during the balcony scene when she agrees to marry Romeo after knowing him only a day and she is not even sure herself that Romeo wants to marry her.
