Argument: For Jeff Jacoby, writer of “A Desensitized Society Drenched in Sleaze,” violent entertainment indirectly causes real life violence. He states that even with his highly religious and disciplined background he was “jaded” from exposure to violent TV. he thinks that if he can be desensitized, then anyone can be desensitized. With that thought, Jacoby may have a valid point. If exposed to violent TV for an extended amount of time, it may be able to desensitize anyone, especially if they come from an already broken home or bad neighborhood.
The “CSI Effect” can be observed when watching television shows such as CSI, Criminal Minds, NCIS, Bones, etc. These shows give the audience what we think is education about Forensic Science but also adds some drama and sexiness to it. Not only does the “CSI Effect” affect us viewers, it affects the whole judicial system along with the safety of you and your loved ones. The “CSI Effect” is the way the crime television shows are misinterpreted which then cause’s confusion among society. After you have watched CSI, you tend to think Forensic Science is easy and could possibly be a fun career.
Cookies or Heroin Some people think that television has a negative influence on our society and that it changes people. In the argumentative essay “Cookies or Heroin”, Marie Winn relates watching television to having an addiction to drugs and alcohol, which it blots out the real world. In my perspective some people find television irresistible and that it brings peace in their lives to help them escape from the real world. Marie’s argument is that television is a drug that interferes with family’s everyday life and to be sure other experiences like reading, also provide a temporary respite from reality. In the essay, Winn’s problem with T V is that “television experience allows the participant to blot out the real world and enter into a pleasurable

In this way the powerless often wrestle concessions from the powerful. Protests can be violent or peaceful, but either way they are a way to get one’s voice and opinion heard. In an example of this, the hit TV-show It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia has an episode entitled “Charlie wants an Abortion”, and it goes through the characters (Charlie, Mac, Dennis, and Dee; who are also the producers) opinions and stances on the abortion laws in our country. The episode starts by Charlie having to get a paternity test to prove that he's not the father of his old flame's ill-behaved son, meanwhile, Mac and Dennis feign being against abortion so they can pick up women. The producers don’t directly come out and state their views, but have the characters divide into the two sides of the debate (pro-choice and pro-life) and partake in protests outside of abortion clinics.
Criminal Acts and Choice Theories Response Beth D. Komish CJS/200 April 6, 2012 Monty Mathis Criminal Acts and Choice Theories Response Depending on where you grew up and how your parents brought you up, you could start hanging out with the wrong people and they could get you in to a lot of trouble. I believe that crime just does not happen I believe this is in the genes somehow or maybe there is too much violence on television. There are so many different types of crimes, robberies, rape, killing each other and drive-by-shootings and so many to name. The choice theories of crime affect society by, the entertainment industry and the media, the rap singers are singing about different way to rob, kill, sell and do drugs to kids that
According to Michael Moore’s documentary, I assume that media can’t be trustworthy unless people explore for the accurate news and find out who is behind those news and TV shows. Some media images could be fabricated to edited or transmitted from the wrong place. Furthermore the problem with some government’s TVs that they use lots of intimidation in their news, and most people believe it and they build their thoughts on what they hear in the news without searching for the true information. For example, there is an American TV show called “Cops”, it is a documentary of reality shows the way how cops search for criminals and how they chase them. They usually show that that the criminals are black people and the white cops are chasing them.
When a teen got a car in the 60’s, a popular hobby was to “cruise” with friends to show off a car. Teens would drive around slowly and pointlessly to look cool and sometimes, pick up girls. When George cruised, he hung out with a gang called the “Greasers.” No one wanted to mess with them, and therefore, George. When he wasn’t driving with the Greasers, George would ignore the speed limit and break many driving laws. Consequently, George got a lot of speeding tickets and had a boat load of money to pay off.
For example, when Bradley Cooper’s character works out a deal with the Officers so that they wouldn’t have to stay in jail over the weekend. He volunteered the boys to be used as a demonstration for the use of taser guns on criminals. The physical abuse and the situation is hilarious, but may be geared more to the present times. The gags and situations in these films are depicted differently for the audiences, as there is clearly a visual difference in the times the movies take place and the delivery of the material. The Hangover chose to use physical abuse to their advantage, where as Coming to America left went for a more situational, verbal approach.
This means the taxpayers have to give money to build poles and plant trees in various traps to ensnare drunk drivers. Obviously, we need people to aware of the dangerous sober drivers. nothing is being done to tell teenagers about the positives of drinking and driving. teenagers are very mature. That's why I think they should all leave there houses with a 36 block of keystone light just encase you decide to crash a party or my favorite a bottle of 99
