Mental health professionals practice active listening and encourage the client to express their feelings. Mental health counselors develop and implement treatment plans based on the client’s physical or mental condition. Client information is collected through interviews, observations or tests which guide counselors in the development of therapeutic information strategies that will help clients deal with their problems by targeting at-risk behaviors which promotes optimum mental and emotional well-being of the client (Erford, 2010). Over the past decade organizations have come to the realization that mental health professionals need to become competent in cross cultural interactions. Competent multicultural mental health professionals play a key role in success of mental health counseling interventions (Connerley & Pederson, 2005).

The aggressive communication can be carried out by verbal attack on others or nonverbal behaviors like slamming the door or charts, but Robin only use the verbal attack.

In the care of the patient Mr. J, utilizing nursing-sensitive indicators could have greatly assisted the nurses and aids in identifying issues that may interfere with patient care and cause negative patient outcomes. The ANA has defined a number of nursing-sensitive indicators in the National Database of Nursing Quality Indicators (NDNQI). The national database program collects these designated indicators and analyzes their prevalence in an effort to prevent these negative patient outcomes and make recommendations about how they may be avoided (ANA, 2009). There were a number of errors made in the patient’s care, and closer adherence and understanding of these guidelines would have proven useful in guiding these personnel in his care. Without paying attention to these quality indicators, some care may have fallen through the cracks, some may have not been identified in a time-frame that was meaningful or useful, and much of the care the patient received may have been detrimental to his condition.
Lake (2011) also specifies that effective marketing helps the advertising staff to target a specific organization. The JAMA states, if the burden of treatment outweighs the benefits and if the family disagrees even after serious attempts of discussion, it is legal justification for “futility of care” (Ufema, J. 2001). Conclusion The purpose of this paper was to discuss, compare, and contrast futile care and the ethical dilemmas that it can create. Articles have been compared and discussed that support the right to a natural death and the dilemmas created when the family chooses not to honor the patient’s wishes, or serve in the best interest of the patient. Ethical dilemmas not only affect nurses, physicians, and patients, they also affect families.
