I think the eternal flame was a nice touch to John F. Kennedy's grave and they seperated the Kennedy's grave. I was observing the graves and I noticed that they each have numbers on the grave and that they were running out of space for the graves. When we got to the changing of the guards ceremony, the guards were scaring me a little because they were like a robot and they were so perfect. They did everything on 21 seconds and never did anything wrong. Their voice sounds so professional.
“You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view – until you climb into his skin and walk around in it.” (pg. 30) is one of the lessons learned. No one in Maycomb puts themselves in Boo’s shoes, so they don’t understand his suffering. People don’t see his true intelligence that was ruined by his cruel father; this makes Boo one of our most important mockingbirds. I see behavior like this everyday, as I walk down the high school halls, into the lunchroom, even just kids hanging out in town – there is always some one judging someone.
Perhaps the most important building to the actual prison operation was the cellhouse. This building was composed of approximately six hundred cells, each divided into four cell blocks: A block, B Block, c block, and d block. Most “jailbirds” were housed in either the b block or c block during their incarceration. Each cell measured nine feet by five feet, with an eight foot ceiling overhead. Within each cell was a bed made of steel page 4 (topped by a mattress), a toilet, a shelf an electric light (which was not permitted to be used after
However, despite the cold and indifferent conditions at the two institutions, inmates do have realistic opportunities to better themselves and rehabilitate into law abiding citizens. Western Youth Institution At the first stop of our tour, Western Youth Institution seemed more like a college dorm type of building than a prison. The single structure design and sixteen floors resembled something you might even see on Appalachian State’s campus! Nevertheless, this was still a prison and in the case of Western Youth Institution, the initial appearance did masquerade the ominous nature housed within the walls of the prison. Western Youth Institution, designed and built in 1972, is a minimum security prison that houses male juveniles up to the age of eighteen years of age.
This museum has so much to view in such a small place that it is incredible. I ended up spending about 1 hour and half just exploring and looking at their collections. The first floor was a bit confusing to get around but loved it all. From taking a mug shot, to being inside one of the intmate cells, the intmate cells were the real thing, they had the actual matress intmates would sleep on they had the little sink they used and the toilet that was fitted into such a compact space, I wouldnt be able to imagine myself sleepin in those beds, and i specially cant imagine my self been stuck in that cell for hrs, months, years. Another great collection that I was astonished by was the collection of locks and handcuffs, wow, I never imagined that so many diffrent handcuffs have been manufactured, diffrent size, shape,
I have always had mixed feelings about dentist offices, because each one I have been to, I have always gone in feeling uncomfortable and left, feeling the same way. I guess the reason for me feeling this way is because when I first walk into the dentist office, the atmosphere has an eerie feeling to it. It is cold and sterile, the walls white and dingy looking, the staff are all dressed in the same exact uniform of white, and no personalities. I would walk in and walk up to the window and wait! Once someone was ready for me, they would slide open the glass window and ask for my name and have me sit until I was called.
We were taken to the county fairgrounds-twenty or so fenced acres of clear-cut land set with half a dozen long, low, tin-roofed barns Another thing we didn’t know: when each truck entered the fairgrounds, the gate swung shut behind it, and police turned back anyone else who tried to enter” (Orr 220). Although they were just trying to demonstrate, the police automatically assumed that they would need violent retaliation. Once overcoming these consequences, one can often feel a sense of personal victory and even more hope for the
The mobsters begin to come down the stairs as Henry walks up to them and it turns into a regular shot as the bosses congratulate Henry on beating the charges. This scene uses camera angles very effectively to help the viewer better understand what is going on. The low and high angel shot that was used to show the difference in status between Henry and the mob family was turned back to normal as they accepted him into their world of crime. That was the moment Henry had been waiting for and it is shown in the film without any sort of dialogue, only camera
Hospital Observation Composition 2 Omar Kempson Everest University October 30, 2013 Walking in to hospitals always gave me conflicting feelings probably because it is place of health, healing, life and death neatly rolled in one. Walking through the sliding doors the air rushes you, clean and crisp. The atmosphere subtle and somewhat subdued you can at times pick out the emotions that float by. At first you can’t help but, notice the lights with an alarming brightness that’s like an assault on the rental. Always when I arrive I go straight to the front desk for directions which are never clear the security guard usually an older Blackman gives you instructions like go to the B elevators not the first set but the one around the corner take it to the 11th and the patient is in room 1145b to the right of the nurses’ station.
One morning I explained to Travis that drivers always have to stop for school buses when the stop sign is out, regardless of which direction they are heading. At that moment another car drove right by, and did not stop for the school bus that had its stop sign out. Another time, Travis had to come to a stop at an intersection when he noticed a car coming from the opposite direction not slowing down for the red light. That car ran the red light, and almost caused an accident. Luckily, the other driver was paying attention to the speeding motorist running the red light, and was able to avoid hitting the car.
