Ronald Yellow flashing lights, it must mean that we’re almost here. Bright lights that mean slow down and proceed slowly, being that there are walking inmates all around. Speed bumps, can’t forget those pesky speed bumps, the ones that fling off front bumpers and scrape the exhausts of the dozens of the loud, “low life,” civics around. Speed bumps are there to help solidify the meaning of the flashing yellow lights. Now approaching the entry control booth, with a pole that opens and closes operated by unarmed security. To the right, right before the entry control booth are the lost teenagers, the ones that need help finding their way, but also being the ones that don’t allow themselves to be helped. We are let off the prison bus, where we weren’t even shackled. Only in the lame elementary level drills were those ever used. There are many, many, doors to choose from to enter this maximum security facility. I personally love walking through the main doors. Outside the main doors is the warden standing there with another unarmed security guard. I say “good morning,” as I personally have a fond connection with each the warden and the security guard. As soon as you walk in through the self-automated doors you’re greeted by a grand vestibule with a church like high ceiling that will just leave you in awe. That is, if it’s your first time in this state correctional facility, but for most of us that are regulars here just simply walk by nonchalant, unmoved by the beautiful architecture, not even stopping to question if it’s Greek or Roman inspired. To the right corner once you enter is the front desk, whom is a second home to some friendly and some not so friendly middle age women. Women from different ethnicity, that's the beauty of this correctional institution; it's diversity. A smtall own divided into 4 sections due to it's overpopulation, north, east, south, west, I was an “East sider.” The east and south side was only permitted on one side of the prison and the north and west side inmates only had the freedom to be on the other…show more content…
To the right a small hallway four rooms where chemistry experiments are orchestrated. It's a recent addition to the institution, it could be assumed due to how new it is from the other hallways near it. To the left of the main lobby is one more chemistry room, and in front of it is one of this institution’s many gardens. Beautiful green lawns, beautiful flowers, even a bench for the intellectuals. One room down is the one of many deputy warden's office, a room I have some familiarity with. Mrs. Pagan is her name, Puerto Rican spice, who will not repeat herself twice.
