In the western Pacific, there is low air pressure as warn, moist air rises, cools and condenses, forming rain clouds which give heavy convectional rainfall. This movement of air results from the Walker cell. This circulation of air is where air in the upper atmosphere moves from west to east and surface air moves from east to west, as the trade winds. It causes surface waters in the west to be pushed upwards therefore sea levels in places such as the Philippines is 60cm higher than in Panama or Colombia. Water flowing westwards is warm, 28ºC in the western Pacific whereas the water off the coast of South America is cold, 20ºC.
Essay 2 There are many differences between living in Florida and in Missouri, which can be both good and bad. Those include the average climate, cost of living, and the many different cultures. For similarities; there are jobs in both places, as well as different attractions to visit, both historical and fun. Florida’s weather is almost warm year round. Its wintertime temperatures rarely ever get below freezing, which is great for living near beaches year-round.
However, even with this ever-present danger there lies unparalleled beauty. I, along with millions of others, get to enjoy the allure of this majestic beast almost every day. The mountain can change an otherwise dull day into an enjoyable experience, with only an ever so short appearance, Mount Rainier is located about 40 miles east of Olympia, WA. It last erupted approximately 150 years ago (NPS, 2013). Thanks to modern technology the population living near this spectacular mountain can live in relative peace and safety.
America 2050 projections expect the area to grow to 58.1 million people by 2025. French geographer Jean Gottmann popularized the term in his landmark 1961 study of the region, Megalopolis: The Urbanized Northeastern Seaboard of the United States. Gottmann concluded that the region's cities are, while discrete and independent, uniquely tied to each other through the intermeshing of their suburban zones, taking on some characteristics of a single, massive city: a megalopolis. Region[edit] The megalopolis encompasses the District of Columbia and part or all of 11 states: from south to north, Virginia,Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Maine. It is linked by Interstate 95 and U.S. Route 1, which start in Miami and Key West, Florida, respectively, and terminate in Maine at the Canada–United States border, as well as the Northeast Corridor railway line, the busiest passenger rail line in the country.
Despite this, the diurnal temperature can vary as much as 10-150C due to the waxing and waning cloud cover throughout the day. Furthermore the annual precipitation is between 2000-3000mm coupled with a high humidity ranging from 80-100%. Due to the proximity to the equator most areas experience an equal split of day-time and darkness. Although the flora of this biome experience a constant growing season, dry seasons can emerge as the ITCZ migrates after the equinox, resulting in lower rainfall and a subsequent increase in average daily temperatures. The vegetation in this area is thought to be the classic climatic climax vegetation of the planet and due to the biomes long term stability over millions of years, competition for sunlight among the plant species is such that every species occupies its own niche, often symbiotically with other neighbouring plant species.
-Areas near the sea are cooler in the summer because the sea takes a long time to heat up and so cools the land down. -The West of the UK gets warmer more than the east because of a warm ocean current coming from the South West called the North Atlantic drift. 4) PRESSURE: -Low-pressure weather systems have lots of rainfall because the air is rising and water vapour is condensing. High-pressure systems have dry weather because the air is falling. -Low pressure weather systems come from the west, so the west of the UK is wetter.

It is not unusual for temperatures to rise above 100 degrees Fahrenheit during the day in Death Valley. The Mojave Desert covers a large area of land between the southern Sierra Nevada and the Colorado River. The Colorado Desert lies to the south. Less than five inches of precipitation falls in this part of the Basin and Range region each
Los Katios National Park: A Gem for the Globe By: Roy E. Kosch, Jr. Axia College of University of Phoenix SCI 230 Instructor: Erin Lawrence Los Katios National Park Parque Nacional de Los Katios: In Colombia, sharing the border with Panama via the Darien Gap lays the vast marshy forest called Parque Nacional de Los Katios, or Los Katios National Park. The park was created by Executive Decree number 172 in 1974, and first inscribed by the United Nations Environment Program, called UNEP in 1994. The park covers approximately 278 square miles; this small island of naturalism represents less than 1% of the entire Colombian territory, yet is home to more than 25% of Colombia’s avian life. Boasting over 550 species of animals, Los Katios’ birdlife compiles roughly 450 of those animal species. Since the late 1960s this stretch of land has been sought for the completion of the Pan-American Highway.
Kuwait shares its borders mainly with Persian Gulf, Iraq and Saudi Arabia. The country’s most noticeable geographic feature is the Kuwait Bay, which depresses the shoreline for about forty kilometres and thus provides natural
