A good verbal communicator is someone who listens well and can think and express ideas clearly. They should be someone who respects other people and makes them feel comfortable. They should have a good memory to make people feel listened to, and be patient and not rush people when engaging in conversation. In health and social care, verbal communication is useful to talk to everyone who can understand the same language as you, and who has the ability to understand it. To be a good non-verbal communicator they should have positive body language by making eye contact at points during the conversation, smiling, having good posture, use positive facial expressions and maybe use hand gestures or head movements to express their true meaning.
(p.16) My primary aim was to learn but I also achieved a measure of resolve with my problem. My feelings before, during and after the session are analysed and discussed, the session is summarised, the key skills used by Annie and their impact on me are identified and challenges for the counsellor and the client are identified with suggestions for strategies to best manage these challenges. Verbatim dialogue from the session is provided throughout the essay as examples and, finally, the overall experience is considered I had
This allowed Mrs. Sharp the opportunity to set the tone and feel more comfortable when telling her story. This also allowed me the time to assess and relate to the client. (Murphy & Dillon, 2011) Due to the stress that this person has been under, the best way to establish a working relationship with her is to allow her to say what she needs to say and watch for her reactions to her answers. If you allow the client to direct the way that the interview goes, she might be able to open up more and share her experiences on her own terms and that will lessen the stress she feels about what happened
There are different outcomes of using different bases of power. For example, if we use legitimate power, it has strong power to make others to comply but it has poor relationship effect. On the other hand, reward power has relatively strong effect on all aspects, which are complying, long last, acceptance and relationship. In the second part of the power and influence session, Professor first shared her valuable experience with us, and after that the leadership application of the principles of persuasion was discussed in the lesson. Basically, there are six principles of persuasion, if we can correctly adopt the principles, it will be much easier to make people to say yes to
Critical Thinking Application Paper Nathan Dally MGT 350 November 12, 2012 Marguerite Stocker Critical Thinking Application Paper Critical thinking involves a lot of thinking. “Critical thinking is the art of thinking about thinking while thinking in order to make thinking better” (Paul & Elder, Introduction). In laymen’s terms it involves analyzing, evaluating, and improving thinking. Those that posses these demonstrate intellectual: integrity, humility, sense of justice, perseverance, fair-mindedness, confidence in reason, courage, empathy, and autonomy (Paul & Elder, Ch1). The result is an efficient open-minded thinker that communicates effectively with others.
These modalities are also known as representational systems (rep systems) as they are the primary ways we represent, code, store and give meaning or language (linguistic) to our experiences. If you ascertain your client’s modality you can talk to them in a way that they will feel most comfortable because a person will find one of the senses easier to imagine and can therefor create their own comfort zone. Kinaesthetic (feeling) Kinaesthetic imagery can be further divided into, sense of touch, temperature, movement, and feelings. When you’re giving a demonstration, the people who always ask you to demonstrate on them so they can feel the technique, are very likely to be kinaesthetic learners. Kinaesthetically oriented people want to get lots of hands-on experience so they can feel how something is done.
I have always worked in factories or retail, so getting an Associate’s Degree in the medical field was a complete 360 for me. In January 2010, I had signed my name on the dotted line for financial aid called Pell Grants to help me afford my education. When I started my classes they seemed to be so difficult I asked myself can I really do this. As time went on my new career goals seemed to settle down. I had my ups and downs, while attending Medtech College.
CG1413: Final Reflection on Teamwork and Communication 8/05/13 1:33 AM Final Reflection on Teamwork and Communication At the start of the CG1413 module, I attended the course expecting to study communication theories while writing reports based on case studies. Over the course of 13 weeks however, we explored communication, teamwork and presentation skills via 2 projects and reflected on our strengths and weaknesses in weekly blogs. During this process, we learnt and employed good communication practices in writing, group discussions and even through public speaking. In the CG1413 project, my group decided to tackle the issue “There is a lack of awareness of the impact of diet on Global Warming”. As the topic of diet change and Global Warming was a rather controversial one, I was surprised that no one had any strong objections regarding the project.
Areas of good practice can be built on and repeated and any deficient areas identified addressed with training, advice and support. 2.2 Reflect on an aspect of your work practice, including its effectiveness and ways that it could be improved. One experience which I have reflected on in order to learn from and improve for the future is an incident where I had to approach the delicate subject of personal hygiene with a young client with learning difficulties that I support. I initiated the conversation with M in a quiet area in an environment where he felt comfortable. I attempted to be sensitive and explain the positives of maintaining good personal hygiene without directly relating the remarks to him.
I was not sure what to expect with my counsellor, but as it turns out, she was very welcoming and made me feel comfortable and safe. She made me feel as though I could talk to her about anything with no judgment or feeling as if she was analyzing me. I was intent on applying myself and having an honest session in order to
