The tough climate made it very difficult for the colonists to survive. The extreme weather in Jamestown resulted in the death of many settlers. According to the “Background Essay”, “Of the 110 original settlers, only 40 would be alive at the end of December.” This tells that during December, the season would be Winter. This means that due to the cold and harsh Winters, the colonists could have died. The rough Winter most likely was the cause to 70 deaths.
Sitting in traffic is one of the worst time consumers of the day. We all dislike wasting our time sitting in traffic when we are late for a meeting or late for a sporting event. My parents have worked with the Department of Transportation in Pinellas County for years and this has been the steaming question for their whole time there “How can we make travel on our roads better and smoother?” Many of their associates have thought that maybe if they just expand the more traveled roads that the ride would become less congested. This may have worked in the short term, but what they did not expect was the 42% increase in population over the last 30 years (US Census). Over the last decade or so, the department of transportation in the Tampa Bay area has proposed and idea for a monorail type system for the main areas of business in St. Petersburg, Clearwater, and Tampa.
The third was to pass new laws so that there were not so many poor people. They were known as the three Rs of relief, recovery and reform. One of the laws set up a program that gave jobs to thousands of men including planting trees, fire fighting and flood control. Flood control would become a huge issue and help bring in hundreds of jobs itself in Tennessee Valley. Tennessee was one of the poorest regions in the country, there were always floods and not many people had electricity.
I think this because they were absolutely revolting! The soldiers had to live in these trenches everyday in all the different weathers; snow, rain, storm; anything. This would have been terrible because the soldiers would not have been able to afford new socks everyday so this caused trench foot. This is when you get horrible infected feet, and the soldiers would have to fight with that. If it got so bad then the soldier’s feet would have got cute of and they can’t fight with any feet.

Most of obstacles cannot be controlled due to the high costs. The fence dividing a car path with the path could be placed to provide safety but the costs involved in the process of building a fence are extremely high. Other quite expensive measures are replacing few pairs of shiny doors with automatic ones and smoothing down tables to provide safety inside the H block (where the dining room is placed). It could take a long period of time before all these measures would have been done because school is not supported with such a big amount of money. Moreover, there are many other, even more important measures which should be done first.
There’s been a lot of hype recently about the effects of global warming and the impact of mankind on our environment. Living in Chamonix I have witnessed the worst winter I can remember in terms of snow levels. It was a very slow start to the season with Christmas holiday makers only just getting a dusting of snow over the festive break to keep them entertained with just the odd flurry from then on for the next month. The expected snow falls that kept appearing on the local weather guides failed to arrive and there was just the occasional dump through out the season to appease the powder hungry skiers and snowboarders.
