In the long history of writing, poetry has held a special significance in human expression. Crazy Melon and Chinese Apple. The poems of Frances Chung as an Asia America are about the poetry moods of Chinatown, the “Chinatown is a terrible place to live” mood, and the “Chinatown is the only place to live” mood. The first time I read about her poetry, I wanted to know more about Chinatown. In my opinion Chung’s poetry not only describe about her surrounds and questions but also make you curious to know more about her culture and her love for Chinatown people. I believe I got the poet’s feeling. I did find three poems that stack out to me more than others ones, though. The first poem is called “There is a group of Chinese-American men who think of “This poem actually got my attention as I was reading it, unlike many others poems. I think this poem is funny because it is mostly talking about how the Chinese-American men are so strong mind and old fashioned. Almost every person who lives in America is ether an immigrant or a descendant of an immigrant. Though we may not consider it, the fact is that every one here has come from other places. The majority of immigrants have come to America voluntarily. Seeking a change as they envisioned America as country thriving with many different opportunities. For these immigrants it was a chance at a better life, not only for themselves, but also for their children. Through immigration America been built into this big nation with varies ethnic, cultural, religious and economic identities. In Chung’s poetry, the author expresses her feeling that Chinese immigrants come to America in search of labor, as a result proving to be hard, diligent workers, and think of themselves as “Chinese Warriors.” “They study the martial arts, practice calligraphy, consult the I Ching and go to sword flicks to blow their
