“Runaway Love” In the world today, there are several social issues affecting mankind. One major issue that disturbs our society is child abuse. Over the years, this horrific crime has increased and a number of people are trying to speak up and stop abuse from occurring. One method in which this transpires is through music. A particular artist by the name of Ludacris decided that enough was enough and determined that he would take a stand against abuse in his song, “Runaway Love.” This song, performed by Ludacris and featuring Mary J. Blige, voices their concern about the issues of rape, physical violence, gun violence, and unwanted pregnancy.

War also devastates the lives of Iraqi women. War makes widows, childless middle-aged women, and some are being sold for sex. Typically, Iraqi couples are married at age seventeen – eighteen for men and fourteen to seventeen for women (Iraq, 2012). However, the war in Iraq has cost Iraqi women their husbands more than one can imagine.
It’s important to know what these amazing sisters did for their country and how their actions still impact today. These sisters were impacted greatly by the wrongful actions of their harsh leader. So, to secretly opposed against the regime seem like the right thing to do. Minerva led others to plot against the government by forming a secret movement. They was put into prison for this movement, but later on set free, because of international help.
War is inevitable, there will always be conflicts among people, countries and leaders. War affects children in all the ways it affects adults, but also in different ways. Children are dependent on their parents for care, food, water and shelter. War adversely affects the lives of the children when they lose their parents to the war, lack of opportunity for an education and the possibility of living in a refuge. Children are exposed to situations of terror and horror during wars, such experiences that may leave traumatic impacts upon the children.
Growing up in Peru in the 90s while in the middle of a civil, war was very difficult. Events such as, car bombs and terrorist attacks on federal buildings were very common throughout Peru and especially in the Andean are where I was born. To make things worse at the age ten my parents’ divorced. We all knew of America being the land of the free and home of the brave so during this difficult times, my mother decided to take gamble everything, family, friends, and home, to As a result, my mother and I moved to America to have a fresh start on a new life. Being raised by a single mother in Los Angeles was very demanding and tough for both my mother and myself.
Katniss never fully came into her own in Mockingjay. In Hunger Games, she was a floundering yet passionate girl desperate to protect her family and stay alive. While she made a lot of mistakes, we loved her even more for them, because we saw her struggle, we believed her desperation and her motives, and we wanted her to succeed. We saw her near-double-suicide not as the easy way out, but the final spit in the face of the Capitol that had pulled the strings for so long. In Catching Fire, the story was fast-paced and intense, Katniss still struggling but really maturing as a fighter and a person.
She had to give permissions to herself because her parents had been captured. She decided to fight and she became a brave leader in order to make a difference. I see Ellie changing in the book. The first time that she was really scared, when there was a snake in Kevin’s sleeping bag, she ran off without thinking. But the next time, when they found out that there was a war going on from Corrie’s dad’s fax, she started to stand up to her fears and acted like a soldier being really cautious.
It’s evident the two boys grew up to be violent people. Dr. Peter Fonagy, a child development expert, explains, “A child exposed to abuse has a higher chance to become a criminal because his or her childhood has mental scars of what they went through.” Fonagy also mentions, “Children are like sponges; they absorb everything they see, and as adults unintentionally repeat and look for what they lived through”. Tommy and John are great examples of this because they repeatedly suffered from rape as well as brutal beatings. As a result, under their circumstances fighting back seemed like the only way to defend themselves. Aggression, what both characters were affected by, is a horrible habit that can easily be prevented with proper help.
The effectiveness of direct retaliation which involves the US led war on terrorism. After the 9/11 attacks many Americans had the view that the world changed forever. These attacks on the United States caused so much grief and hatred to those that perpetrated and were involved in the attacks that on October the 7th 2001 US and British troops invaded Iraq to seek and destroy those involved so that an attack on foreign soil of this magnitude does not happen again. The main impact for me this war has caused is that there are more people joining terrorist groups today because they don’t believe in what out governments are doing so they feel like joining the enemy is a good way to get what they want. At the moment with the current situation with
All characters encountered cruel and horrific events throughout their lives and would overcome them, allowing themselves to seek opportunities in life. Some other examples of resilience were through Ping Fu and myself who have also suffered through some traumatic situations. Mabel unlike her mother shows resilience by running away, leaving Cora behind. Perhaps she was trying to break the pattern and find a better life so that she could come back and free Cora. After all, knowing the cruel punishment that was executed upon the runaways would be more gruesome then abandoning your child to the planation life.
