| Throughout our nation’s history, great disasters have prompted major changes in society—turning points with an undeniable impact on American civilization. In the case of the infamous 1911 New York City fire at the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory, it took the tragic loss of 146 lives to help put fundamental workplace health and safety considerations on the national agenda. The Triangle Factory Fire’s loss of life was fueled by non-existent fire prevention measures, inadequate safety codes, lack of proper firefighting equipment, poorly planned fire escapes, and inaccessible exits. The aftermath of the fire would be the catalyst for three key changes to our industrialized nation: improved fire codes, healthier working conditions for labor workers, and increased factory safety standards. The Triangle Shirtwaist Company made shirtwaist style ladies’ blouses, popularized in an expanding retail market for ‘ready to wear’ clothing.
Wildland Fire Prevention Abstract Living in a house surrounded by nature and wildlands can be peaceful and beautiful, but it can also be risky. Wildfires that spread into wildland-urban interface (WUI) communities can be extremely costly in structural losses. The 1991 Oakland and 2007 Witch Creek fires in California resulted in property losses of $2.7B and $1.5B, respectively. The risk of a high intensity wildland fire, is rising in many wildland ecosystems, and with it comes an increased risk to homes in this interface area. The good news for people living in wildland settings is that you can do many things to protect your home even before a wildfire gets started.
Lincoln would not have only replaced the relations that went on with all the government and federal states properly, but also would have made a huge effect on all the American families and have made a very depressed reconciliation. The thoughts was just wishful thinking that made people come to realization that “pragmatic “had a huge effect, which made them have “hatepyschosis” that stood the powers of many leaders in one spot. Many had faith that the Reconstruction would have most definitely been different if Lincoln had of been present, and that the reconciliation might have been around faster and been completed. They people had reconstructed the plan just a couple hours after the murder of President Lincoln. A couple of generals such as General Sherman and General Johnson had a meeting in South Carolina to put call an end to the destructive
But even with such pressure, these put their lives before others. Agreed that they work to earn money and support their family, but then again they could have taken any other job. Why this? The same goes for any blue-collar worker. They too impact greatly on the whole community and even their jobs are life-threatening at times (such as a miner; the methane levels in the mines make it a hazardous environment for miners as even a spark from their tools could light a spark and the whole mine would catch fire, harming everyone).
Genocide in Darfur (Region of Sudan) The genocide in Darfur has changed the lives of everyone in Sudan. Discrimination has pushed people out of their homes and put distress on all involved. The United Nations and other groups try to send aid, but certain matters keep interfering. Darfur’s numerous tribes have led to conflicts with in the region, but since 2003 discrimination against the African farmers has occurred; leaving people starving and homeless and the United Nations trying to help. Generally the geography and the background of the people do have an affect on a country.
Throughout Appalachia this process has been occurring, and has lead to outrage among many people across these areas, and even the nation. This type of mining has been in effect for years, and has been effective in retrieving large amounts of coal, that is used to power our nation. While coal is a necessary source of energy in the United States, opponents of this technique argue that there are many negatives to mountaintop removal. These negatives include the destroying of ecosystems, the pollution of the nearby streams and rivers, pollution of the air, numerous health affects, and of course the
9/11 has had a huge impact on Americans directly. There were many men, women, and children who died. The amount of death has made many Americans sullen and it has affected the way that we view terrorism. The fact that we were hit in the center of our trade, where no one thought we were vulnerable, still unnerves Americans today. We were attacked when we least expected it, and what's more, the attack, to some, was successful.
Was the black plague/black death a positive or negative thing ? A question i once wondered and something many people probably still do .The bubonic plague caused a lot of hurt , some may think it was a good thing and some may not . In my opinion i think that the Black Plague was Harmful to everyone and the environment . There were many consequences caused by the black plague .As stated in the passage “ The population was forever changed in the western civilization”. I completely agree with the article because this plague caused a lot of of sickness which eventually turned into death .
The Black Death Sean Kelly HIS 103 Mr. Durr The Black Death and English Society The Black Death resulted not only in the widespread panic and death that we usually associate with it, but it also created tremendous changes in English society. This was especially noticeable among the peasantry not just because it caused widespread starvation and a massive disruption in agriculture, but also because it changed the entire medieval economy resulting in higher wages despite government edicts and regulations meant to prevent such. The Black Death is a phrase, and name, that brings to mind pain, panic, human suffering, and death. It raced across Europe killing thousands if not millions. It crossed all age and affluence boundaries it
The Renaissance came after the devastating Dark Ages; where Europe lost 25 million people to the Black Death, and many lost the ability to read and write (“The Black Death”). Although the loss of lives was devastating, it allowed farmers to have surplus, artists to sell their work and church officials to be questioned (Ramirez). The Renaissance was an era that helped Europe evolve simply because it opened new doors; the spread of trade. Along with these new ideas came new innovations, especially in art (“Central School PTO”). Art further developed the way that people really saw the world; it gave that little push for the people to be able to really see everything.
