It was just like seeing Santa on his sleigh in a Christmas parade. Obviously they weren’t the real Three Kings, but as a kid I believed they were. After the festival was over, my family and I went back to my grandmother’s house and had our family party. It just so happened it was my grandmother’s responsibility to throw the family party that year, which is why we flew down. At the family party, there was great food and drinks, and we even had a band come play traditional music.
Yet ironically and almost prophetically, when Selena was asked about her future during a July 1994 interview, she stated, “I just hope still to be alive, hopefully singing still and later on, maybe 10 years yonder, I hope to have a family by then.” In early 1995, the Quintanilla’s discovered that Saldívar was stealing money from the fan club, and decided to fire her. Three weeks after the fallout, Selena agreed to meet Saldívar in a Days Inn hotel in Corpus Christi, on the morning of March 31, 1995, to retrieve paperwork for tax purposes. At 11:49 am, Saldívar drew a gun from her purse, pointing it at Selena. As the singer turned and left the room, Saldívar shot her once in her right shoulder, severing an artery. Selena ran towards the lobby to get help.
Joining the navy on July 27, 2007 was one of the happiest days ever, I wanted to be travel the world and see different places, places I’ve never seen. Be able to shop and have things that no one else would have. I graduated from boot camp and was sent to the newest aircraft carrier in the fleet the USS George H.W Bush. On January 12, 2010 we got devastating news that and earthquake had just hit Haiti. At the time the ship wasn’t going out to sea so they were able to send volunteers to help the victims of the earthquake, so I decided to volunteer.
Justin Webb October 21st 2012 Professor Olsen English 1113 Second Chance The story starts off on a bright blue skied sunny day in the pacific northwest, its Thanksgiving day and the plan was to go up to Grandma’s house which is approximately 35 minutes up the Washougal river road in Washougal Washington. In my car it was three of my best friends and I these aren’t just your ordinary friends they were my family. The friends I’ve grown up with, went on vacations with and was always with them 24/7. We load up the civie, my car, the classic 2004 red Honda civic that everyone seems to get for his or her first car. We set off on our adventure and as always we are blasting music being kids driving up the long windy scenic drive that the Washougal river road is.
Life sets out many different pathways that eventually leads to your future. For me, life gives me experiences that had a huge impacts on me and my future. I came to America from Vietnam when I was five years old, way back in November of 2000. Before coming to America I was nervous and did not know what to expect on my first time flying on an airplane. My First flight was probably the most memorable experiences that I have ever had in my life.
It seemed like it took us forever to drive from Savannah, Tennessee to Orlando, Florida. When we got there, it was worth the fifteen hour drive. It was my first time on an airplane, and traveling with so many people was a different experience for me, one that changed my life. When we took off out of Orlando, Florida, there were
As a seventeen year old, I do not have the experience to know exactly what I want to accomplish, but one thing I do have is the high spirited personality that enables me to make friends on my way to a successful life. I am proud of this quality because it had helped me overcome challenges that try to prevent me from reaching my destiny. One of the challenges that came on my way was starting a new life in United States. I was very excited to learn that I was going to live in America. On September 2, 2005, I finally arrived in America.
I was scared, I knew this wasn’t right but I also knew it was the only way to see my parents again. My parents immigrated to the United States when I was three. My father had worked for several years all over the US following the harvesting season and was granted residency through an Amnesty Bill that was signed by Ronald Reagan in 1986. My mother was granted residency but I was not due to improper paperwork filing. The memories that I have over the ten years of “crossing over” are memories that I will never forget.
My parents and I had been waiting that such a long time to get a chance to immigrate to America. When I first got off the air plane,
I immigrated to United States on June 2012. I was both nervous and excited as well. My immigration to United States was a remarkable process as it was followed by series of problems, and a fact that is an entrance to the new world without any religious and cultural restrictions. As the Boeing 777 landed at Miami International airport, I was nervous, tensed and excited as well. That was just the beginning of my search for better future.
